Welcome back everyone and thanks for watching! This video brings you along to see the process of making some interesting Damascus and then shaping a blade from that Damascus. This particular knife is for a special project between Oliver Goldschmidt and myself. It is a collaboration for Blade Show in early June. Oliver lives in Italy and makes amazing blades and even more amazing and unique handles. If you want to see his work (which I highly recommend) his instagram name is @oliver_goldschmidtknives. In this video I am forging the Damascus blade and piece for the butt-cap. In Part 2 I will be Grinding, Heat treating, Finishing the blade and getting it completely ready to send to Oliver for the handle. I sincerely hope that you enjoy the video and that you stick around for Part 2! Thanks!

Beautiful job forging, and the pattern's gonna turn out great. It's funny, it seems like such a simple concept but I can't say I personally remember ever seeing a standard Ws pattern tiled out, guys seem to usually get more complicated with their patterns when taking the time to prep and weld up a mosaic billet, so it'll be neat seeing how it looks all finish up. And I won't deny it, I do have a bit of a case of shop- envy goin on right now lol. Really though, great job all around, the mellow sound track was a nice touch. Thanks for sharing 👍👍

Fine job Curt, i know it is some sort of carbon producing liquid you are using but what is it? I like to use diesel fuel when I make Damascus but perhaps you have found something better. It does not produce the flame up of diesel so perhaps it's alcohol mixed with borax? Thanks, Martin

M&S BLADES ya brother its just WD40 to burn up that extra oxygen in the forge.

Yea Man I knew it was something that had a carbon burn off. I learned this trick a long time ago and will not try it any other way. I also mix my borax with roach killer. The roach killer melts a tad faster than the borax. Anyway great job.... Martin
