I have a ez go txt 48 volt. My question is that when I connect all the batteries the little jumper resister between to two big lugs on the solenoids seems to be getting to hot with nothing turned on . What is the reason for this

I’m having the same issue with a 48v club car. I have a new controller on it and when I plug the batteries in the resister begins to smoke. Have you had any luck finding the problem

My issue I think may be the solenoid. I have a Club Car and all batteries are fully charged. I by passed the key and cleaned all terminals. I hear something whine but I cannot determine where. There seems to be 2 solenoids in my Club Car ...I am not sure which one would need replaced. In automotive mechanics we use to put a screwdriver across the solenoid to bypass it to start the vehicle. Is there anyway to bypass either solenoid?

Love to watch your video, just quick question, my club car is in limp mode(8mph) when I start with headlight on. FYI, if I turn the light on after starting, it has normal speed. Do you think the solenoid has some problem?

Is any of those a negative? My starter is going to the solenoid but it won’t light up on light test 12v. Negative to solenoid

Barry the selonoid you show looks like the one on my 1992 ezgo 36v cart. Can I duplcate what you're doing with 12 volts or do i need to energize the controlling voltage to the small posts with 36 volts? The selonoid is new but I do not get continuity on the small posts. cart was slow/no power now nothing.
@golfcartking5 жыл бұрын
You will have to use the voltage that the solenoid requires, sounds like in your case 36 volts. One thing that I've learned over the years "New" doesn't mean that much anymore.

So a solenoid is just an electric controlled switch to open or break the circuit?
@krusher742 жыл бұрын
yes that exactly what it is. if you did not conect the current to the starter though a solenoid (conecting it via large guage wire) it would be too hard for it to flow throught the smaller wires and would melt them.

Have an older 89’ ezgo marathon. The resistor coil is glowing red even when off? Only way to stop it; is disconnect the battery. Is this a solenoid issue? The speed wiper switch seems to be fine

Did you ever figure it out?

I have a 1989 EZGO marathon with a 3PG. I've got a problem with the electrical that I can't figure out. I have replaced the starter/generator, the voltage regulator, the solenoid, the positive and negative cables and the ignition switch. While running it, I am constantly drawing current. After driving for a half hour, the battery will drain. Not all the way, but significantly. While it is running, my voltage to the battery reaches 13.8 max. This does not give significant voltage to keep the battery charged.What am I missing?
@barrywilson66655 жыл бұрын
While driving the golf car at top speed the starter / generator should be putting out 18 +/- volts and the voltage regulator regulates the voltage to between 14.8 and 15.6. Next, check the voltage of each to determine what could be going wrong. Also, driving the golf car under 60% speed, the car is running off the battery.

Ok thanks! Can anyone help me understand why my old (1958) Golf cart has about 8 solenoids ran next to each other in two rows (4 facing up and 4 more below them)? It has no computer controller obviously so I suspect it has something to do with that. Note: The cart is a stock/original "Turf Rider IV" with a GE 36V DC motor, cart has two factory headlights and two factory taillights. Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello I have a club car precedent that it won’t go forward or reverses.when I plug it in the charger is blinking .Any idea what it could be ?
@golfcartking5 жыл бұрын
First do a load test on the batteries then verify that the charger is charging the batteries.

DIY Golf Cart I recently got new batteries for the cart when I was driving it was surging and then it just shut off and wouldn’t move.Do you think it’s the batteries and what do you use to do a load test?

Why are solenoids even necessary? Why can't the circuit be broken by a less complicated switch that cuts off the flow to the motor? FYI I'm new to electrical stuff. Sorry if it's a dumb question.
@krusher742 жыл бұрын
It conects the current via large guage wires and a short path for good power at the starter, if the power went though a long small wire it would cause a voltage drop and possible melting.

Not a good description at all. Nor gives the purpose of the solenoid and why you can’t just run the light with a switch straight off battery

"A solenoid uses a magnetic coil (the actual solenoid) on a low power circuit to push a rod that closes a high power circuit. On your golf cart, this high powered circuit is either your ignition on a gas golf cart or your electrical motor power circuit for an electric golf cart. " This video should be taken down. It appears in the video that you use the same voltage to control the solenoid and the voltage going to the load, NOT SO. If the two voltages were the same, why would you need a solenoid. The smaller terminal should give anyone the clue.
