ofcourse it doesn't have torque steer, Golf R is AWD.
@kelsey32838 жыл бұрын
It spends 99% of its time as front wheel drive because it's Haldex awd. Totally different then full time torsen all wheel drive.
@abdbach3797 жыл бұрын
kelsey3283 it's not "99%"where did you get that number from jezz... it engages in almost every corner or in slippery conditions or under load....and the moment you step hard on the throttle it sends 50% of the power to the back, so in reality you'll never feel the torque steer because only about 150hp max goes to the front, that's why you it doesn't torque steer and it has a feature that uses electric motor in steering assist to counter torque steer and it works great, have it on my golf, it also exists in the GTI that's why with even 220hp to the front wheels and and no AWD it still doesn't torque steer, same thing with the ClubSport with up to 290 hp and still no torque steer.
@exothermal.sprocket6 жыл бұрын
FWD biased (normally), AWD system. Not the same as a Quattro (longitudinal mounted engines), or Subaru Symmetrical, BMW Xdrive, or a Nissan GT-R. It's going to put power to the back when the system needs it, otherwise there is still a lot of power to the front wheels, which act like a vehicle normally powering front wheels (torque steer). Big difference between a car supplementing power to front wheels when the back needs it, compared to a car supplementing power to the back when the front needs it.

+Sergio Aguirre perhaps with an ridiculous amount of suspension, diff, wheel, tire, brake, transmission, mods. It eventually comes to a certain point of asking "why keep spending all this effort on a front-wheel drive vehicle? It's less useful than a 500-600 HP AWD vehicle at low speeds, which would be under 75. One of of my coworkers has a '1500 HP CTS-V, DDs a '13 S65 w/800 HP. The other has a '10 1200 HP Durango 2500 Cummins by DBS & DDs his Hellcat red key, they're in-laws. The Caddy & Dodge will easily smoke rubber at 75-100 MPH on the interstate. Pretty insane stuff. AWD simple makes more sense on a car for most people. Both the cars I drive, Mk6 & 7 GTIs, with a tune they have 260 & 300 HP. This is ample to me on nice tires BUT 300-400 HP in a Golf R is another world.
@JoJoJoker8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Fergusson not on the motorway. Perhaps on bald tires. Gotta get good ones, Michelin Pilot Sports grip quite well. Low speeds is where AWD helps. A 300 HP stage 1 Mk7 GTI vs a stage 1 Mk7 Golf R really shows. With the R 0-60 is 3.6-.8 & 100 around 9.5. The GTI is 2 seconds slower or more in each.
@JoJoJoker8 жыл бұрын
+Sergio Aguirre not disagreeing they're out there but the reliability concern is debatable - that is the benefit of Haldex 5 that send power to the rear before slipping occurs, unlike the previous gen on the R Matt is driving here. This is why most modern supercars either have AWD or fancy active aero. It's possible to do anything. Some jet skis come with 255 HP stock.

No, actually it's front wheel drive entirely, only until the fronts slip. At this point the haldex pump pressurizes and the rear end kicks in. I think the mk6 R needed more than stock power to bring out the best it had to offer. Also, a few suspension improvements. My sample is a good example: APR 1+, but no suspension mods. The extra bit of power magnifies the need for a bit of suspension help. But, I'm waiting. Somehow I have to convince the wife to go along with me getting this kit. I think 450hp is enough for me. I really like the looks of the engine bay. A car I can drive as stock when I'm cruising the interstates, but a serious back-road burner when I want one. Only $7k? Oh, I don't mind the ho-hum reviews of stock 6R. I just keep in mind it's lap time (as compared to the 2011 STi) in Car&Driver's Lightning Lap and I sleep well: www.caranddriver.com/features/lightning-lap-2012-feature-lightning-lap-2012-ll2-class-page-4 Stock power and stock suspension. One has to learn how to drive the car to get the most out of it without wishing it was some other car. I suppose. BTW, Ie's site says it makes 450hp at the crank, not to the wheels as reported here. tsk, tsk guys.
