Thanks for the video, it really helped med a lot. By pushing the whole body (too much) forward as the first drill, I really started getting the feel for the proper weight shift for the first time ever. I found it even easier when I started the backswimg a few inches left of the ball to get into a more “flowing motion”, this made the transition/shift forward feel even more natural. Maybe this helps other students, too.

This video was one of your very best! My playing partners often say to me after an iron shot, that was an arm swing. I did not fully turn and finish correctly and got stuck on my back foot. I'm really looking forward to trying this out. What do I do for the driver swing?

What’s more likely to cause hang back closed club face at top of swing or steep downswing? Thx
@CogornoGolf Жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff! Obviously there could be many factors at play to make the golfer hang back on their trail side...but an open club face and/or steep shaft in the downswing often results in poor body motions through the ball in general (lack of rotation and trail side bend "early extension", early releasing/flipping, not shifting and extending the hips UP and FORWARD towards the target enough etc.) Here are some videos you may enjoy checking out with more details on these pieces! kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ21q52Lq6iFobc kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZW2fJRqeb5niaM kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnXdapWwgK6Lesk

I have trouble with this at times for various reasons. As far as feel, is this a “pull” or “shift” originating from the front side or a “push” from the backside at transition? Positions are one thing, just curious what you’d consider the sensation to be.
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Neither are correct nor wrong really. I feel more of a FALL into the lead side then a PUSH from the trail side later kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHu0n5J8r7uhoMk kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYfdfWCler55r6M

Great video! Eric, I have a bad lead leg that doesn’t hold weight well or for long. I do shift but not as much as I should, probably mental/subconscious. And I never finish fully on my left leg or up on my right toe. Any conceptual thoughts? All I can think of is maybe a narrower stance and an open stance to take the pressure off
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ryan! Yeah there will be a bit of trial and error there for sure....my first thought would be to try more open stance that will help pre set low point more forward. You may very likely need to feel like you swing more to the right to off set that. Maybe try ball position a touch more back as well.

What conditions contribute to naturally getting the weight forward? Just trying to understand the cause and effect…ie will proper extension or weight transfer lead to the desired result

Hey Anthony! I have found nothing over my years of coaching that guarantees weight shift other than doing it. Its like standing on the edge of a pool....at some point you either jump or dont....not much else to say there.

Simply put, your favorite junk & your belly button must be ahead of the golf ball at impact. A good drill is to set up with your jewels ahead of the ball & do your swing. In fact, you can play darn good golf if you set up this way & pretend that you are hitting a hockey stick, slap shot. If you get your crown jewels in position & you hit the ball with your right shoulder going down & out, you'll be way better than 85% of the duffers out there.
