Four men went golfing together one day; three headed to the first tee and one went into the club house to take care of the bill. The three men started talking, bragging about their sons. The first man told the others, "My son is a home builder and he's so successful that he gave a friend a new home - for free." The second man said, "My son was a car salesman and now he owns a multi-line dealership. He's so successful that he gave a friend two Cadillacs." The third man, not wanting to be outdone bragged, "My son is a stock broker and he's doing so well that he gave his friend an entire stock portfolio." The fourth man joined them on the tee after a few minutes of taking care of business. The first man mentioned, "We were just talking about our sons. How is yours doing?" The fourth man replied, "Well, my son is gay. I'm not totally thrilled about it, but he must be good. His last three boyfriends gave him a house, two cars, and a stock portfolio."

Same. I played for many years with no lessons and couldn’t put it all together. At first I could crush a drive straight and far, nearly every time, but was so horrible with my irons. Then as my iron game improved my driving fell off. I stopped playing for a few years and I’m back to square 1, but this video really helps.

Perhaps you understand why 'opening and closing' the club face is required in the golf swing. Why can't the swing at 3:38-3:29 work the same way? I'm just a beginner at Golf.
@79basicinstinct8 жыл бұрын
Hi L Duranceau. Could you elaborate? Not sure if I'm interpreting your question correctly here. Note that the 'opening' and 'closing' of the club face happens through body rotation and not through a movement of the hand (wrist). Let me know if that answers your question. If not, please clarify and I'll happy to provide insight if I can.
@lduranceau80468 жыл бұрын
My swing looks more like 1:56 - 1:59. The club goes back in a straight line and through the ball in a straight line. Why won't this work? You both say it won't work, but why not? At 1:56 - 1:59, the hands don't open and close.

I am just learning and after 1 trip to the driving range I was frustrated and made the exact mistake described here. I tried to keep the club straight in the plane to hit it straight. I was all over the place. I tried this concept or should I say ESSENTIAL fundamental with wiffle golf balls, then real ones and like the example just piddly 20 -30 yards slowly increasing the power checking my form making sure when I applied more power I keep the open and close face properly across the plane. Greatful I saw this video after only 1 trip to range before I developed bad habbits. My results appying these tips was NIGHT/DAY! Not only did I hit the ball much straighter - when I applied power in proper form I had great results and am getting 180-200 yards of solid straight shots. I still can develope more power but taking my time. THANKS GUYS! Cheers

Thank you so much for making this video. I just purchased my first set of clubs and can't hit a ball to save my life. I was taking the club straight back and trying to go over my head and straight down. To say I'm horrible is an understatement. But I get this concept. I was so mad at how badly I hit my driver at the range I found this, went out to my field and tried it. I was amazed at how simple this was and how my drives were longer than I've hit in years and relatively straight. I'm very optimistic that this will carry over to the course. Thanks guys!

really great instruction guys! so many people think of the golf swing as a simple one dimensional motion that starts and stops in the arms. but the golf swing is a very involved motion that utilizes the entire body by building up and releasing tension much like a spring. learning that can be very confusing and hard to conceptualize, but you guys really laid out the fundamentals in an easy to understand way.

Thank you for the slow motion swing. As a beginner I have had the trouble you are talking about with my swing. Now I understand more about what to do. I will be replaying this video multiple times.

Do your own golf swing first, then find out what's wrong with it. Don't try to do everything right first because it just creates all sorts of problems.

Need more of this type back to the basics. Even for long time players to get back to basics.

Eh my favorit thing about golf is really just wondering around chasing the ball. It sure feels good when you smash that ball just right though.

I've been playing for over 15 years and have paid for a lot of lessons (25 HCP). In fact, I just finished a 3 day golf school costing $1,200. What the instructors could never figure out was that mentally i pictured hitting straight down the target line which resulted in a host of problems. That's why I cast the club. That's why I flip the club. That's why my backswing is longer than John Daly. My 3 day school only made the situation worse. So I went online and came across this video. If I could go back 15 years, the concept of this video is all i would try to master. Taking the club from square to open to close position requires you to rotate around your body as opposed to hitting down straight through. For advanced golfers this may be obvious but for many of us who play recreational golf, we try to hit the ball from the top using our arms, hands, etc. We flip the club because our body isn't moving in one piece. That's because physically we don't understand the golf swing is centrifugal and not vertical. What a great video.

Perhaps you understand why 'opening and closing' the club face is required in the golf swing. Why can't the swing at 3:38-3:29 work the same way? I'm just a beginner at Golf.
@QueenRexy8 жыл бұрын
+L Duranceau You're going to have a hard time with golf if you keep questioning professionals. I understand wanting to understand. But in golf you really need to stop trying and just let the equipment do its job. When you're swinging like that, it's you trying to fix something that doesn't need to be fixed. Your hands will naturally want to rotate when you swing a golf club. If you start with the club face aimed forward, then when you swing, either the club will naturally rotate and the club face won't be aimed forward by the time it gets to the ball. Or it you will be trying to force it to stay forward through the entire swing which isn't a natural swing. You're lot letting your body do what it needs to do. Stop questioning it like you know better. Empty your mind and put these into practice.

Hi guys i watched your video's 2 years ago when i was first starting and straight away i had an average of 115 over 9 games which i was happy with. I then had my first and second child which stopped my golf at an early point :-( Now my children are in nursery i have my first game tomorrow (after a few trips to the driving range) and my first stop was spending a few nights just re watching your video's as they helped me so much before. However this time i will continue to watch and play as there are no plans for more kid's ;-) Keep it up love the video's

Oct 2021 watching this. Just picked up golf a second time a month ago. Tennis racquet concept opened up my eyes. I was guilty of trying to keep the face square through impact. I need to let it naturally close as my body turns through the shot. Thanks guys!
