I went to get fitted and mentioned how frustrating it had been. This grip advice is what he told me and said forget about the club, just concentrate on gently turning my body and gently moving back. Unbelievable performance right away. I fell in love that moment. This old golf pro also had another tip: Amateurs have 20 movements in their swing, semi-pro has 10, pros have 4. Grip correct sets up the shoulders and consistent gentle rotation gets rid of the weird head and body movement. Thats it. Simple concepts scale to greatness. Complexity means failed system usually.

Subscribed after watching this lesson. This is the BEST LESSON on the Internet. Period! I've been a 15 handicapper and could never get my score down due to a huge shoulder turn which caused me to be VERY inconsistent. Also, I was WORN OUT after a round because of so much physical turning. It never occurred to me this was my problem until I watched this video!! I took this lesson to my range and it literally fixed my consistency after one bucket of balls. Incredibly well explained and very clear without a bunch jargon!!!

This is the greatest lesson I have watched in a long time. I am a beginner at golf and besides him getting the shots right from his grip, I was also focusing on his body and arm posture as I struggle to keep my right arm straight when taking a shot.

great pace of the lesson too from a viewer perspective. Great point too with the grip change with respect to committing to it even if it feels weird or very awkward.

I am a 10 handicap. Have taken lessons previously. Recently noticed a big loss in distance and consistency. Length I attributed to age, but the distance lost was too significant in a year. Took lessons with goal of regaining consistency narrowing misses. Now the point. Lesson 1 we worked on nothing more than Grip and set-up. We included the hinge and release! Lesson 2 and 3 was similar while adding better body movement. Just like in this video. I was suffering death by KZbin because I only thought I knew what was wrong. I developed a bunch of 'cheats' that worked, but hard to replicate from round to round. I encourage anyone wanting to improve to find an instructor to look at your swing. Drop one round to pay for the lesson! If they don't discuss, at the very least, set up and grip day one, find a new instructor. 1 Lesson won't fix what's broke! Love your approach and addressing the fundamentals. This guy did amazing in adjusting. I'd pay ya if you were in my area. Fortunately, I found a coach that I have confidence in.

Love this tutorial. Thought it was ABSOLUTLEY brilliant. I think it was genius and rather quite lucky that the guy you were teaching was better than your average amateur and had a high enough skill set to listen to your lesson and then successfully implement it which is what made this episode quite exciting. There are tons of golf instructional videos out there but haven’t seen any one like this at All. I watched a golfer with above average skill set hit several shots normally and made slight changes to his grip and stance. What makes this so much better than the other videos is this guy was already a skilled golfer so he was able to quickly make those changes which let your viewers instantaneously see how proper change in grip and stance can create huge gains in accuracy and distance. Bloody exciting! Good on you mates!

What a lesson. Incredible. This guy can obviously strike the ball and has a good base. I had some lessons a month ago and a refresher two weeks later and had similar results. Amazing the bad habits you develop over time. Grip is so important as is pivoting the body and not “muscling” the shot to get better distance. Great video and content and a new subscriber!

Fortunately the student has his lesson on video. When you help someone change a fundamental (grip and alignment in this case) the new grip lasts one or two shots and is lost and this is especially true about an ingrained erroneous alignment habit. That wrong alignment may have impacted the swing from a sensory point of view as well. There is a sense that something is wrong and the body turns in a manner to accommodate it but the result is not the desired one. Great lesson and excellent student.

With my students I use the words "bend the right wrist back" and that seems to sink in better than all the technical stuff. They want to see a 90 degree angle or close to it between the back of the right hand and the right forearm. That gets their wrists fully cocked at the top of the backswing and the club close to parallel to the ground. The "L" to "L" drill really works great too.

I understand this man’s struggle. I struggle with my irons so bad on the course. At home I crush them on my mat (and I’m not hitting the mat first) I can feel compression and everything at home. On the course is either thin, chunky and no power with it leaking right. I feel like I’d shot in the low 80s high 70s if I could approach the green. My best round is also an 81 with shit irons. Driver, short game and putter are my strengths. Avg 50/60% fairways. Pretty much Always close on pitches and chips. And I avg 1.8 putts per hole. Irons kill me so bad 😢. If totally pay for a few lessons with these guys. Love their vids

Hey this is a little late but ive been trying everything under the sun to fix my iron game, i’ve felt like I made a good swing and the club would spin in my hands or I would thin it. I changed to a stronger grip like you mentioned and it’s completely changed my game. Im not hitting it straight all the time but im making great contact on 90% of my shots which is all I really care about right now.
