Shawn Clement's Wisdom in Golf Lessons

Shawn Clement's Wisdom in Golf Lessons

Күн бұрын

Shawn Clement’s Wisdom in Golf has been going against mainstream instruction for the last 40 years. Before that, we had the Snead Squat, and the teachings of Bobby Jones and Jack Nicklaus and Wisdom in Golf has taken it from there while others were too busy nipping and tucking all the talent and natural ability out of the game through video analysis. Those teachings showed up in the ’80s, we have theorized on what to do with our body parts and we have examined under a microscope what the leg work of the PGA Tour and LPGA tour players have. We taught “resist with the legs and coil upper body against the lower body and paid a heavy price both physically and mentally. Then we said stable lower body, then finally, just a couple of years ago, we start saying to let the hips turn in the backswing.
Well, we have been doing our own thing and blazing a trail for our 115 000 followers and because your Human-machine is free of wires and strings, it knows what to do if you give it a clear task. CLARITY IN YOUR TASK will get you the consistency in the movement and it is important for your mind to understand so you know how to let things happen! Enjoy this video on proper leg work in the golf swing and enjoy the practice in your backyard with the easy drills we provide you!
00:00 Introduction
01:01 Using a Hammer to engage the legs.
04:03 How to pump the legs with the sledgehammer.
04:44 How the kinetic chain uses the momentum from the legs.
08:55 Proper leg use in the golf swing with the human kinetic chain.
12:53 Using the kinetic chain properly vs manipulation in the golf swing.
14:33 How the legs allow you to throw the golf club.

So what is the net result of not bobbing up and down in the swing? Lack of power? Lack of contact? Lack of tempo? I have a golf friend who I think overdoes this to his detriment however I probably dont do it at all so Im trying to find a happy medium to this move.

Don’t look at it as something you need to be careful of; the drills to end all drills for this is the walking drill; see “best way to shift weight in golf swing, take a walk shawn clement” and “Feet together and one leg update shawn clement” and “kettle bell drill shawn clement” and “hammer for more power shawn clement”-then see “throwing the club shawn clement” and “predict solid contact and direction shawn clement” Our premium site’s titles are called “pumping up the swing” and “feet together to feet apart” Then “throwing the club” and “the goldie locks series” and “Grass whip training” You will not believe how accurate you are and how you really do not need to pay any attention to leg details when performing these simple tasks.

I love that your instruction and concepts have not changed since your early days- it’s helped my golf swing improve immensely this year. I keep a small kettle bell next to my desk to work on this when I’ve lost some rhythm in my swing. Keep it up!

I really like the fact that you keep coming back to this concept, it’s safe to say that it is the concept along with the upside down club trying to whip like a sword drill that you keep reiterating, that sorts my irons out when I’m practicing after a poor round. Really like the fact that you teach using primarily an external target focusing really helps to gets stupid positional thoughts out of my head when trying to swing, and let’s me focus on what I’m trying to achieve . So thank you very much. Keep up the great work

A light bulb💡 moment. I’ve been stupidly early extending after trying out S&T. (I know, that’s why I added stupid 🤪) Realising after watching Shawn today that if you go down in the backswing (as in S&T you’re almost forced to stand up at the wrong time. Person on a swing makes me feel like I’m a little up in the backswing, therefore allowing (encouraging) my knees to work (bend) into the downswing. Early extension becomes extension at the correct time. Now I just have to learn to release to target by pretending to throw the club and I might be ‘somewhere’ closer to my goal of actually taking a divot and getting a clean shot away. Thank you!

MASSIVE WISDOM IN THIS COMMENT @janestewart412! Thank you for posting and you are so spot on! Mark Blackburn, PGA TEACHER OF THE YEAR in 2020, said it very well in the first video that came out that finally validated my teachings, he said hey guys, if you want good ground force REACTIONS in the downswing, YOU NEED TO COME UP IN THE BACKSWING! And guess what? OUR HUMAN SELF PRESERVING SYSTEM DOES THIS BRILLIANTLY without thinking when we have the right task for the swing to react to. In our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com you will see these titles that pertain to and help you perform this brainlessly: “kinetic chain series” “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series” “turbo charge lead hand and trail hand release” (see all the release videos to see and feel what you are about to turbo charge) “feet together back to feet apart” “pumping up the swing” and “pumping up the volume” Next level is around the corner now! 😀👍

So spot on when I heard throw it with your legs. All yinz have very good pivots in the backswing and downswing. The overwhelming majority of amateurs do not. The pivot in my swing is something I have been working on alot lately. There are great benefits to letting that lead knee break in and down during the backswing. If you look at Savys and your top of backswing your lead femur is vertical. Being in that position allows you to pull down and around thru impact. This creates tremendous power. Sorry but I feel the pivot is extremely important and deserves more attention to detail. Anyways have yinz watched the golf channels swing expedition today. Brandel Chambshe & Lucas Wald. If you haven't yinz really should. They are talking about the pivot and other things that you have teaching for decades.

Boys will be boys.... That was hilarious. Nice job laughing that off fellas and on to the video lesson, another fabulous learning moment illustrating how the brain can automatically handle the task once it has a clear understanding of what it is the operator is asking it to do. Be clear with the instruction and let the machine do what it will; good things will come when that happens. Nice job team!

IMHO you can’t do enough videos on this topic. The feeling of how the squatting effect creates the catapult action that whips the arm-club unit through the ball is somewhat elusive at first. But like feeling the difference between balance and imbalance when learning to ride a bike, once your brain learns this feeling in the golf swing, you never lose it.

In my round yesterday my ball was going super high, and to everyone’s dismay, bouncing over the green. Stupidly, I started focusing on my body parts and tried to better control my swing, resulting in shanks and pulls. I parred and birdied the last two holes, but it’s so frustrating how I abandon my tasks. This is the video I needed yesterday, amongst many others from your treasure trove. YOU ARE THE BEST!

It was the Sunday before the final round of a tournament and the reporter asked Arnold Palmer if he had any superstitions he used for good luck before the round. Arnold said "Well I don't have any but Winnie will kiss my balls for good luck". I doubt that really ever happened but the story always made me laugh.

You mean your perception of how a tour pro plays? Ever been to a tour event? You will see A LOT of off shots; it is the way they can get up and down and capitalize on their good shots that make the diff.

I have been going around and around trying to generate consistent impact with any sort of power on my irons. Been doing your chipping technique for a while, and that also contains the heave. When I do bigger back swings I tend to get lost, and my synchronization breaks often on the turn through. Do you think it's a good idea to build of an iron swing starting with your chipping method and then extending from there to bigger heaves? I'm happy just doing small shots for a while to get a feel, if I need distance I'll just club up
@golflessons
@golflessons 3 жыл бұрын
It is because you are not linking the backswings purpose to the throw in the direction you want to start the ball! See “throwing the club shawn clement” and “throw the club straight shawn clement”. If you heave into the backswing to simply hit the ball harder, you are lost.

he seems strong, but look at impact how little open his hips are. Nearly close to adress position with hips. For more power they should be much quicker/open
@golflessons
@golflessons 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Peter; power is not a problem here; and the amount of hips open is not a conscious thing; see “throwing the club shawn clement” and “throw the club straight shawn clement” and find a place where you can do this safely and film yourself doing it; you cannot think about the hips while doing this as it will fly everywhere; you can only focus on throwing to the target and this will tell the brain exactly how much it needs to open to hit that target...
