Peter Thompson was a man who put Melbourne on the g okkfing world stage. Greg Norman followed him but was from Queensland. It's a clear indication of Thompson's superiority watching this. He wins like Norman did or Tiger Woods. Clearly superior to this field and he was always calm and didn't have a reputation for choking and it's a shame he didn't dominate in the US but in those days Europe was closer in your terms in prize money and prestige. Thompson d nominated the US seniors tour tg o prove a point then retired to c okmmentate and his educated Australian accent and know ledge if all the greats was priceless.

Thompson never smoked or drank alcohol. He was an early to bed early to rise straight character who was respected and revered. The Don Bradman of golf
