K.J. Choi's swing, analyzed by David Leadbetter.
Transcript
KJ Choi, from Korea, good player for many, many years, multiple winner on the PGA Tour. Interesting how he addresses the ball with his head position, you can see he sort of tweaks it to the left. I think his half-swing is really based on rhythm, we can see as he swings it away, club face a little bit closed, but watch the lift as he gets to the top of the backswing. We can see almost a slight pause at the top there, sort of hangs back there, and gets that club face square through the ball. But what I like is this, almost this Sam Snead squat we'll notice as he changes direction, look how his legs sort of almost sit there, that's the strength of his change of direction, when he stands up out of it. Look at that full flowing finish. Number of compensations with KJ's swing. As strong as KJ is, he doesn't really have a dynamic looking posture, just sort of stands to the ball, he hasn't got many angles created here. Now as he swings it back, you can see club face a little bit closed, here comes the lift to the top of the backswing, very flat shoulder plane, here's the little over-the-top move, stands up on it so he gets the club now coming from the inside. Drives his right elbow into the hip and then full flowing finish. These compensations have won him a lot of money through the years.
