Great lesson. His feet are actually better positioned as well. His right foot is turned back a little where it was square before and it seems like front foot is turned out slightly more than before, all in addition to the wider more athletic stance. That’s one of the first things my coach helped me with when fixing my driver setup! Great job fellas!
@meandmygolf.2 ай бұрын
Thanks Shane. Yes his whole stance changed and was way more athletic. Glad you enjoyed it.

Great instructions 1- ball up off the heel was the game changer 2) starting club head back was the head start/ cheating hack that squared the golfer up!

Have been doing this for the last couple of months. It is strange at first a took a bit to get the ball position and tee height right. Game changing in terms if strike and distance. Have easily gained 20 to 30 yards on average. My biggest drives might be 250 before but now closer to 280 and plenty every round in the 260 to 270 range. Basically, i tee up the ball and then just set up like an i would with an iron with my club on the ground 5 inches behind the ball. When i swing i dont look at the ball, i focus on the low point (where the ball would be if i were hitting an iron) and then just swing my swing - the driver collects the ball on the upswing. Also has helped dramatiallcy stop the 2 way miss. I aim down the right and it goes straight or the miss is 99% to the left - keep the ball in play more often

Makes so much sense Snow on the ground now but I will definitely implement this technique

What’s missing here is the golfer is addressing the ball with his left shoulder waaaaay too far ‘away’ from the ball, causing his shoulders to be wayyy open at address and impact. It’s like his right arm is taking over when addressing the ball, like he’s using his right as the reference to the ball for the rest of his setup. Remember the old days when the pro would push his left shoulder towards the ball and then drop his driver head behind the ball? Thats what this guy has to start doing. The really cool result of this move is by closing his shoulders at address he is actually making it easier to get to a good position at the Top because he has shortened the needed backswing because he essentially started rotating 5-10 degrees by closing his shoulders at address. He doesn’t have to turn as much to get to the top, or return as much to get back to impact. As more Norman used to say, by grounding the club a foot behind the ball you are already starting your back swing. You won’t believe the difference this can make!

I have to thank you for this clip. I viewed it a week ago and thought to myself, “why not”. I have now played 2 rounds adapting you new address position with the driver and I must report that this technique works! Thanks you. Have you a tip for making good ball contact with the irons (I.e..ball then turf). Thanks again.

I agree keeping the driver back behind the ball keeps your shoulders more square , if you move the drive up to the ball your shoulders will open up,, I do the same set up .....

Do you set club face square to the target when it is 6” behind the ball, or do you set the face square and then move it back 6 inches?

I tried this a few months ago from a different youtube teacher and I hooked the ball off the planet .... Just didnt work for me , but my miss is a pull hook, I think I get to closed in my stance with this setup and this made me make my right hand turn over faster to keep me from pushing it right .
