Have you ever had a round where you just weren't playing well and/or one of your playing partners was having a bad day? But on the final hole, nothing but great shots! You're like: "Where has that been all day?" When you've had a bad round, sometimes you just give up, get through and look forward to the next round. Basically, you take your brain out of the equation. When you take your brain out of the equation, great things happen. Good golfers have told me that I should have swing thoughts on the range, but no swing thoughts during the actual round. Me hitting my drive into another fairway isn't unusual. Some of my best approach shots have come when I'm trying to get out the way of people in the other fairway. No thoughts. No practice swing. Just swing to get out of the way. There have been pro athletes who say you perform better when you're relaxed. Bobby Jones said golf and tension don't mix. A good golfer once told me, "You're tensing-up to hit the ball. That's your problem! You're supposed to swing the club, not hit the ball...think about that a bit."

It's not a "half swing" it's actually a full swing but you're tricking yourself into applying power in the short time that have prior to impact when you actually have the mechanical advantage to do so. The other "half" of what you'd assume is the backswing is actually just part of the wind-up and it's just a slower and more relaxed transition which results in a longer "looking" backswing.

This drill from Eric, is linked to another video he does about “float loading”. Watch it. It’s a game changer for all the over swingers out there. A man named Allen Doyle, used it quite successfully after turning pro at age 48. Won many tournaments and 3 Senior Tour majors, and well over $13 million. It’s not much more than well controlled half swing…that achieves about 80% of “maximum” yardage. I committed to this philosophy about 10 years ago, and went from an 8 handicap, to a +2. Turns out that less is more:)👍

@zazhouАй бұрын
The length of the backswing is not totally paramount but needs to be sufficient to allow for a proper and full release of the clubhead through the impact zone. The release must not be too early or too late or else the clubhead speed will be diminished. Also acceleration through the ball is vital for increased force (F=MA) which again implies correct timing of the release.

For a better explanation for ppl who are watching but still not understanding - Practice this by taking full swings but when making your down swing you want to try to fully hear the “swoosh” of the club solely in your left ear (if your RH) and right ear for lefties! Again you want to be able to hear that “swoosh” sound after impact, not before!!! Please let me know if this helps! Thank You!
@gmcoanАй бұрын
A perfect example of this is watching the video of Tiger hitting his PW 186 yards from that thick rough. His back swing is very sound and smooth as well as his down swing but then you’ll notice that right after he makes contact with the ball, that is when he fully fires through the swing itself!

@mindchimeАй бұрын
That swing is literally my swing, exactly how far back as I go for all my irons, woods and driver...and my 7 iron is 165. My backswing however is MUCH slower on all clubs, which keeps all my ball shots straight. The faster I come back, the less straight the ball.
@sethualtaylor294811 күн бұрын
Im genuinly curious. On the no backswing, you put the object to make sure you didnt go backwards. On the "half swing" you come halfway, stop, and pre load a higher swing which is counterintuitive to your directions to not go into backswing with the first drill even though intuitively you want to. On the halfswing, should i be pushing forward, or backswinging further like you did in the video before going forward? Because it looks like your not doing anything other than a full swing with a brief pause in the backswing? Its an honest question. Not being a troll because it looks like a good training drill to get you to not only generate more power but also to help you focus on follow through rather than worrying about your swing. But i want to make sure i do it right and it just appeared your actions on camera were contradictive to what i thought you were instructing? If that makes sense? Maybe i missed something

Sorry , you need to be far more less sloppy with this … 8:48.. clubhead speed 103 … NOPE, that’s ball speed, so 145 carry .. still a good strike at 1.40 smash but … don’t confuse ball and club speed Your audience are tech savvy , so don’t make daft errors And as for the 180yd with no backswing intro … get real.. show the shot on Trackman , yes if you squint hard you can see 119 ball speed and 179 carry… impressive numbers possibly equating to 85mph club speed… which is very high … would liked to have actually seen that swing!! If you don’t show it … it didn’t happen. Oh and reveal the 7i spec… loft and length… club numbers tell fibs these days Not being harsh… just us folk need consistent data .

Not sure what this drill is but it doesn’t seem an appropriate drill to increase club head speed. You seem to emphasise your ‘wrist hinge’ but this is making you come inside too early, is reducing your reach (vertical) and thus actually impacting your speed. You didn’t mention weight shift in to your lead side, rotation or attack angle. Sort those things out for people and it unlocks better contact and faster speeds
@BoomersandBitcoinАй бұрын
You don't hit a golf ball with the backswing... Has nothing to do with hitting a golf ball. Obviously as shown here in the video
