Essentially all you are doing is the same thing as moving the ball way out in front of your stance. One of the biggest problems I have on the tee, is positioning the ball in the right spot. I don't get out enough to get used to having the ball in the same spot in my stance all of the time, and many times, it's a couple of weeks between getting out, so my swing isn't as consistent as it should be. I will line up and have a big hook on my first drive, so the next tee, I move the ball back in my stance just a little bit, and sometimes over correct and cause a slice. It's also tough to chase it, because as I'm golfing, I'm loosening up and I start coming through more efficiently. If I start a round driving the ball great, I normally maintain that through the round. If I start off with a big hook or slice, it normally takes a few holes to find my sweet spot. It's essentially the same thing, just over accentuated. For me, moving the ball forward gives my hands the time needed to square up the face. Rotating like you are is forcing your hands to come through, because your hips can't move enough to square up on the ball. What's funny, is that I try to explain to heavy slicers, that their fix is causing more problems (when they aim way to the left and try to hit it left to try to make up for it). Essentially, they are doing the exact opposite of what this drill is.

Love Simon and his straightforward instructions. Only watched this last night and haven’t had a chance to go down the range to try it. However, his tip for seniors, that’s me, of trailing the right leg was something I thought I could try. Wow! Thank you. Got it wrong once, but otherwise I smashed long high small draws when I used the driver. Thank you. 👍

Omg so funny to see old drills that work. I started playing golf in 1986/ 26 years old. Played football, baseball- switch hitter. I had a NASTY slice!!! An old guy would watch me and gave me on tip in 87 … “back to target drill” is what he called it. I stopped slicing in two weeks. Never again. God rest his soul, and thank you my friend. He was a coach at Westchester Golf course just north of LAX.

My swung was created by my University's Golf coach, and Trainer. He changed my swing in a similar way back in the 1970's, after I was told I could play golf after multiple knee operatuons. I am a big man, 1.99 meters tall and 300 lbs.and I keep my lower body very still during my swing, so I don't hurt my bad leg. I still play golf pretty well...I carry a 14 index at my home course, and my short game and putting, keep me in most of our Senior Members tournaments! They are a lot of fun and with my handicap being 14...there are only 4 holes that I don't get a shot!

Not seen that one before, but the one with the right foot dragged back, I advise some senior golfers to try it, so they can get a better turn, when flexibility is not their friend. I always pass on good tips, mentioned John Jacobs, one of the best coaches of all time, he advocated simplicity in the swing, something Simon does. Fantastic.

The golf swing for senior golfers is exactly the swing set-up that Jim Venetos teaches in his academy. An easy and very repeatable swing producing a slight draw. I read that some reviewers who have tried out his swing, mentioned that his technique actually increased their ball distances.

Thanks again Simon and Liam ! - I just tried this at the range with my driver and 50 balls. I only needed the first 9 of 10 balls to see it (3rd strike mis-hit - due to laughing with joy). I immediately and consistently saw a nice high slight draw. 230-240yd with this backward target facing drill and I am older than Liam. Unreal. Seemed like a parlour trick - but nope. At times I doubt my hip turn, but my lower body turn must actually be way too far ahead (time) and not allowing my hands to catch up - leaving the club face open at impact - just like Simon explained. Also, it informs that I am probably not using the ground correctly in my normal stance (knee trouble may be limiting my mind on that and might have to live with it). 230yd middle of fairway I can live with. Same bucket, went back to normal stance and was about 40% fairway and 250yd peak. I will have to drill this again to work that feel back into my swing. I don't have the any trouble with the 3WD or 5WD - 210yd and 190yd respectively only a slight fade or dead straight with both. Is this just because the driver is so bloody long that the arc is huge and variances are amplified? (that and I don't practice driver specifically enough) ? :) - - I often feel like I can't feel the driver head through my hands - but can feel the 3WD and 5WD as "more connected".

I tried this today (after 5 months away from golf). It only seemed to work for my driver though. But, the results with my driver was impressive. First 9, using my old swing thought, I teed off with my 4 wood and hybrid, I only hit 50% of the fairways. Second 9, using this technique and only using my driver I hit 86%, and the only one I missed was about 3" in the first cut. When I tried other clubs not off the tee I toped everything.

This is how i shape my shots. Point the face where you want it to go and angle your feet in the opposite direction that you want the curve. Still have to control the face through impact, but it's easier to adjust the feet to makeup for the hands, than to try and hit s magical straight ball.

Discovered this several years ago by accident when my driver smash factor would suddenly jump to 1.55 to 1.65 when I hit the ball 45% left. I adjusted my body to 45% open (instead of 90% as shown here) and for some unknown reason if my club path was 12% left and the club face 8% open, the smash factor was off the chart. Also, in that stance you can greatly increase clubhead speed by getting the head way further away from the ball. Wonderful to see someone else who is legit basically say and demonstrate the same thing.

EXCEPT IN THE GALE FORCE WINDS WERE HAVING , THESE ARE THAT STRONG THAT A GOLF BUGGY OR AS YOU WOULD SAY CART MOVES EVEN TROLLIES ARE BLOWING AWAY, I on our course hit a lovely drive into the wind on the left and this wind took it right yes so far right it went out of bounds . on the previous hole wind into my drive should have reached 240 yds but was held up a long time in the wind and ended 150 yds only. If you have slice, go and practice this on the range, it will line you up when approaching the ball in the traditional fashion and more importantly give you an understanding of, club plan, just go and try to come over the top outside, in, you will stuff up just about every shot. no option other than inside out, then just adjust club face for desired flight.
