Very clean set-up. I like the wheels and tires. Looks like they're going with the metal spoked wheels versus the plastic spokes. I like the ones you have. Good to do just what you're doing...go slow, get the feel, take time to internalize the steering, throttle, and just the way it feels to sit in the machine. Once you become accustomed to how it feels, it will be just a few less things to have to absorb on the first flight. Also, it looks like you have the temporary struts that let you fold the wing back for easier storage. I guess you won't be using them because of the way you're transporting your unit. Great video.
@GolfFoxtrot225 жыл бұрын
I do like these wheels. Flylight offered them as a last minute option as the Black plastic ones were not available. The pneumatic tyres soak up the bumps well( its quite a broke runway) It was good to just as you said, 'get accustomed' to it. Then the 'next stage' will only be one thing to get a feel for. It was the whole idea of just getting it out there to have a play.

Hi Giles. That’s so cool buddy! I felt your excitement. I can’t wait for your first Peabee flight so I can’t imagine how you are feeling! I did my first mountain hang glider tandem flight yesterday at Kagel mountain near LAX. The rigging process looks very similar. I went off a 3500 ft launch and landed 2000 feet below. My instructor let me fly the launch and landing which I felt was very trusting....but we survived 😀😂 I’ve still only managed 2 microlight lessons due to UK weather. I’d be interested in your trailer setup, how you are supporting the wing on the roof and the covers you are using for transporting the Peabee if you need some subject matter for another video. Cheers Jim
@GolfFoxtrot225 жыл бұрын
James, you tandem flight sounds awesome. I was lucky to have been given a small trailer which needed some tlc and the wing is supported on a set of ladders with foam pipe lagging on the steps. Hi Tom there is a video a little later in my content that I do a rigging video, that might help a bit, but I'll give you some basic times here to help. If it's in the bag and in a trailer, it's about 45 minutes to flight ready and about 35 minutes back down again, that if I don't get interrupted 😁. I have a little custom trailer that I use to tow it around the UK, but if I'm flying from the field and have it wing folded, it's less than 20 minutes to go flying, it rigs so easily. If you want to know any more details, just drop a comment here.

Eddy, I'll try and replay the video times to get that information for you. First build on my own took less than 20 minutes. The trike is 90 ready to go and sits on a custom trailer (a Freeby from a friend). The wing is transported on a ladder on a roof rack with foam lagging taped over the rungs to give some protection to the wing. I hope that helps in the meantime.

@GolfFoxtrot224 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'm assuming you are in the UK, we have a CAA licence exemption ( Insurance is still required), so no licence to fly the Sub 70 kg aircraft. From the hang glider/ microlight instructors I have spoken to, HG pilots do tend struggle with the landing part as its completely different so I wouldn't recommend just jumping straight into one. I had around 6 hours training with Somerset Microlights, however I have since found out they are no longer conducting flexwing training. I hope that helps.
