I have the S60 now and I love it. I felt it made more sense to have the additional features for those times when I needed them. Garmin has great customer service also. They helped me sync mine with my iPhone 10. This was the best comparison review I have seen to date. It made me feel I made the best choice of the three watches reviewed. Jim O. Rotonda West, Florida

I have the Garmin S2, had it for about 4 years now, and I am quite satisfied with it. It only does front, middle and back of the green, though, no distances to hazards and such. That is the only thing I am missing sometimes when I play an away course. Also, in recent times it sometimes happened to me that the watch did not clip into the loading clip correctly and therefore did not load overnight. I rarely wear the watch away from the course, because it does look rather huge and clumsy on a lady's wrist. I do use it for jogging, though, because it can also just measure the traveled distance. The Garmin course database is really impressive and up-to-date. I never encountered a golf course during travels that wasn't covered by it. It even has our little six hole pratice course. And I can use the same PC software for updating it, that I use for my Garmin satnav. So I guess, if I ever were to go for a new gps watch, I sure would look for a Garmin again.

I have used the S10 for a good couple of years now. It's simple to use and hasn't let me down. It's not had an easy life either! I would say that the STRENGTH of the S10 is that the battery will last for 3 rounds of golf on a single charge! I would have liked to have seen a comparison with other brands eg Tom Tom or Sky Caddie but it was good to know the difference between these 3 models. I have promised myself that when my trusty S10 finally calls it a day then I'll be running a golf app from the app store which I'm currently trialling and am very pleased with called Golf Shot it was £18 for the year subscription and has very good graphics and details hole by hole stats it also does the same as the S60 with moving flags or positions. It doesn't have the Garmin style app but the price is very good. I run a fairly modern mobile with a decent battery so I'm not worried about it failing mid-round. I guess there are possibly more options around now.

use the S40 since a month. It has 2 of the 3 things you notice is great on the S60. The S40 was released in 2019 and the S60 in 2017. The S60 only gives the hole layout and other activity apps. For golf and notifications S40 is spot on with 50% better battery life more according to my live tests.

Have an S10. Not only does it have front-back-middle distance, it does keep score and when paired with a Smartphone, it will track your shots with distance.

I needed a multi sports watch so picked up the vivoactive 3 as it seemed the best match for me, its like having the s40 but with all the other sports available as well, and at the price of the S10, no brainer for me. Absolutely loving it 🏌️♂️⛳👍

I have been using S6 for maybe 6 years. Great aid, but not a replacement for a laser yardage finder (good old Bushnell Pinseeker from mid naughties), and I don’t think any of these would change that position. I have tried to come up with a reason to upgrade to S60, but haven’t found one yet... But any of these is a great aid that will help you to manage the course better by making you to think twice - driver out of the tee box is not the only option. Great review, and helped me to save $699 (AUD) as no significant reason to change.

You can move the flag on the s10 and 20 as well. You just hit the ok button go to move flag and put it where you want on the green. I use the s20 at work while caddying. I love the ability to have all the reaches and covers right on my wrist instead of fumbling through a yardage book trying to do math.

I use a tom tom 1 which gives me all the info I need on course and sounds directly compatible to the S10. Only issue with it is battery only lasts about 27 holes which is disappointing. Info post round on GIR, fairways hit and actual yardage of each shot would be nice and I will go for that when this watch gives up ghost.

@@Craig0935 It would work, but for me it's much more convenient and not a bother at all to have it on my wrist. If, like me, your near vision isn't great, you might have to bend down each time to get a yardage if the GPS is on your bag.

Hi... good review in deciding the model to get. I’m looking between the s60 and s40 with the latter being a newer model than the s60. I’m leaning towards the s60 for its functionality but not sure if it’s close to its product cycle life since it’s launched in 2017. Any news of Garmin coming up with a replacement for the s60?

The cheapest watch is a bit ugly but the other 2 are rather nice. There are 2 big issues which were not covered: what is the battery life, can I play 3 rounds between charges and how quickly does the watch pick up the course you are on. It is not much use if you turn it on just before you walk to the 1st tee and it still has not identified the course you are on by the time you hit the green. I own a Bushnell Excel watch which I have used for about 2-3 years. Battery life is excellent, will do 3 rounds between charges easily, and the display is really easy to read. Sadly those are the only good things about it: as a watch it cannot even keep time accurate, as a GPS watch it is flaky and all too often will simply switch off and sulk. Basically a complete lemon - from a company that makes some of the best range finders you can buy
@ronwilliams3574 жыл бұрын
I have the S10, and one thing it won't do is tell you distance to doglegs. Then it's got a weird charging quirk that's not explained in the manual, and caused me a couple hours of wasted online research to figure it out. Unlike a phone where you simply plug in to charge and unplug to stop charging, the S10 and maybe the others turn on automatically when you plug it in to charge, and will not turn off while plugged in (trying to turn it off per the instruction manual just resets it). So you think I can't turn this thing off! And when you unplug to stop charging, of course the battery drains overnight. Once you figure out the quirk, it's okay -- you just have to know after it finishes charging, to unplug the charger first, THEN it will allow you to turn it off. From there it will last a good three rounds before needing more charge (if you turn it off and don't wear it as a general watch). Good product otherwise.

I have an S60 thought it would be great, I’m now up to my second unit. The unit does not detect swings correctly, jumps around the course, has crashed numerous times when entering a score. Syncing with your pc is so flakey generally needs a laptop reboot a few times before it works. Avoid the S60 like the plague. As others have said Garmin customer support is shocking takes weeks before they reply.
