Thank you for covering the mechanics. I will definitely put the suggestions into practice. Nothing kills a round than hitting a nice drive on a par 5, be in the middle of the fairway and then topping your second shot. This will help.

Niklaus would lift his left heel off the ground at the end of his backswing and start the downswing by planting his left heel. What I see here is pretty much the same thing but with slightly less left heel elevation. A popular theme in golf instruction these days is to use the ground for power, this is not new. Look at Sam Snead's bow-legged squat, then post up on the left leg as he hit it on screws. (persimmon drivers had screws in the face, hence the expression) You are the best personality of any youtube golf instructor and one of the best. Thank you.

I literally have all of the problems you describe. I've been a chronic topper of my fairway woods since forever, actually hybrids too in recent years. I avoid hitting fairway woods on the course. I know I'm static at impact, no rotation. My alignment was off, too. I stand up through impact and flick at it with my head flying up. It's sad. You're video was amazing. I'll start aiming more left, coming down from the inside, and rotating through the ball while trying to hit it off the top of the club. I'll try all this and master it. Thank you!

Great channel, one of your "driver" videos ACTUALLY helped me a lot, I didn't realize I was coming over the top on my down swing AND that was causing me to drive terribly. Added probably 20+ yards on my carry (on like a 30 year old driver, probably double if I had a fancy driver), most drives are dead straight even when I swing a little harder (used to result in a massive/dangerous slice), and the fun factor went way up, feels more like a good ole baseball swing more than a chipping swing now, love it, thank you :)

Excellent Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (probably on Google)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my close friend Aubrey after a lifetime of fighting got astronomical results with it.

How do you adjust your swing when play a round. I played on Friday I was 9 over I played on sat I was 27 over I was hitting everything right I know it was face control but I could not fix it during the round. I also play terrible when playing a comp. Great videos

The difference between professionals and amateurs is a professional is much more aware of what they are doing and thus able to make improvements quickly. As a professional we too suffer from inconsistency but are able to solve problems quicker. We do this because we have a greater feel of the swing. The first thing to begin improving this feel is by learning to shape shots right to left and left to right. This will help you feel what a closed club face feels like and an open one. I you can do this it will help you square the club face quicker should it tend to open too much causing a slice or close too much causing a hook

@@DanielMaude thanks for the reply. I have been practicing shaping shots but obviously not enough down the range it is.

Danny, you have nailed my biggest problem right on the head! I usually have no problem getting off the tee but then promptly top the ball, which usually ruins the hole or gives away a stroke! Your key points and what to do about them will help me. Thank you wry much!

Danny, you're such a great instructor and my game has certainly improved from your tips and drills. I do exactly what you describe with my rescue and it's so frustrating because I have hit some great shots with it but quite by accident, I'm sure. Can't wait to try these drills. Also, would you use the same method it you're teeing of with it? I get really confused about teeing of with a wood as opposed to driver. Thanks, mate.

jeanne fanning if you keep the tee height really low then absolutely, when the tee height gets a little high then remember to hit a little more up in the ball...watch my video on diver swing vs iron swing

Dear Danny, I just want to say thank you. I am an amateur golfer and avid tennis player. I always visualized hitting the golf ball well but couldn't understand why I was "topping" the ball. Your video (and others) has made a fantastic difference to my shots! I'm impressed with my gains. Again, thanks from this South Florida resident☺

Tip #1 really help me out. I still top the ball sometimes because I forget. Leaning the club just before my swing makes all the difference. Thanks.

What scares me is that he just explained everything I do.... I stand up, don’t rotate, I have a steep swing, and aim right. I’ve been trying to work on aiming more left and rotating more, and I’ve hit a bit better. I just need to practice more. I’m subscribing because this might actually help a lot.

Another great lesson Danny, this lesson has come just at the right time as I'm off for practice in an hour. The other day I think I was doing a bit of a chop with my five wood so I will take this to the range thanks.

An excellent video on hitting Fairway Woods Danny! A couple of days ago, I hit several tops with my fairway woods. In viewing your video, I think my main problem was rotational! I am going to archive this video for future viewing in case I run into the problem in the future. Hopefully Not! Keep up the Good Work!!
