If you exaggerate the thought of swinging out and ignore the target, you will easier hit a long high draw. The longest shot in golf.
Let me help you get an effortless golfswing with speed and accuracy. I call it the circle of speed. A good release will help you to a better impact and longer drives and irons without slice and hook. How to swing a golf club need to be adjusted to your skill level and experience.
Long and straight is the goal for everyone but it takes time. Try to focus on one thing not everything when you practise. Impact, face control and swingpath will always be the most important part to drill. We focus too much on rotation but no good golf shot will be executed just by rotating.
I’m naturally right handed but all my tips works for both left handed and right handed golfers.
We also need to understand that many myths in golf are misleading. Everything that you find on the internet isn’t true. Ben Hogan, Sam Snead are two of legends that are often misunderstood.
We shall not keep our head still, only start with the hips, look only at the ball or keep the left or right arm straight.
If you use callaway, ping, titleist or taylor made clubs doesn’t matter you can learn to hit good golf shots. Your loft or your shaft on the club will not change but you can always get better.
Find what inspires you. Golf basics are the same for everyone. The pga tour, longdrivers or other good golfers can all help you find better golf shots. Watch what they do instead of listed to what they say. Listen mostly to your body and figure out what you need to do to produce the same results as the pros on TV.
Mike Malaska, Mike Austin, Mike Dunaway and Steve Pratt are some of my favorite golf instructors online. Find the tips that make your golf better. Decide what you want to hit. I teach a draw but many like a fade and nobody likes a hook or slice.
Your hips or your lag is not the key to golf. Your hands will decide the shot and you can do like Tiger Woods and trust your hands. Teach your hands to hit different shots. Hit big hooks and slices to understand what happens. Only straight is not gonna teach you anything.
Bryson Dechambeu and Kyle Birkshire can inspire you to hit it longer. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson can give you inspiration and motivation to test new things and new golf shots. Linn Grant, Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg can show you the future of golf.
The Masters, Players Championship, The Players, The Open and US Open can make you love golf even more. See the best in the world solve all the problems we all need to master any golf course. Golf is a craft and you need fantasy, feel and skills to master it.

Thanks Marcus. Used to be huge slicer with driver now all shots draw (or hook as I learn). I focus on “swinging on one side” of body, swinging way right, and releasing without turning over the hands (that cause hook). Can’t describe how GOOD the feeling is of seeing a high, low spin, slight draw. I’m gonna keep working to ingrain these concepts so I can keep seeing this ball flight. Thank you!

When i first followed your channel, took me several months of practice, to have the confidence to swing several degrees out to the right in my case with my driver. Once i was comfortable and took it to the course it added 25 years to my drives, very useful extra yards at almost 70

I like the simplicity of your style of teaching Marcus. One good analogy I saw another teacher use when explaining how to draw a golf ball was to think about hitting a top spin shot in tennis or table tennis, imagine the racket/bat face swiping around the ball rather than hitting it straight on with a flat racket/bat face.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad

Hi Doug. I will do a video "tennis vs golf" because top spin will turn in to a hook in golf. We use the right muscles but the turning down of the face will give us a low hook. Every year I fix many "tennis" players. 😊

So candidly explained Marcus! You have a great talent for that! I had a similar liberating thought once: everybody worries about clubface and swing going straight, so I did the opposite, where I tried to accentuate massive over-exaggeration of different swing movements and, yes you hit some bad shots, but actually most of them go generally forward and in play. Then ironically it is easier and less stressful on self-expectations to hit perfectly to target. However, i am 5hcp but not high swingspeed, so I assume this approach may work less well for high swing speed players?? Just got 4 inch tees to practice hitting ‘up and out’ a lot 🔥 ✊🏻😂

Hi Marcus. I take it that you have recovered from your throat surgery. At least I'm hoping that is the case. My name is Patrick Miller, I am from Ohio. I've been working on using your method of swinging for a couple days now. I really like it. More speed and distance for sure. I tried Mike Austin's swing for months. Years ago. But I believe that the compound pivot screwed me up. But with your teaching, the hands and arms are what I focus on. My issue is that 3 out of 6 or 10 swings. When I swing out to the right from the inside. My ball goes straight, no draw back. Is there a video that explains this

Best year for FIR was 2 years ago 61.4%, played 18 rounds since I've tried to implement the driving technique......I'm up to 69.4% FIR for those 18 rounds and getting better all the time. Should we lower the loft on the driver when we tee up high and hit up on the ball? I'm not a fast swinger (95-100 mph) and play 10° driver and have around 10+ degree postive attack angle. My miss is often like a tabletennis topspin or a hook.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Жыл бұрын
That is impossible to say without measuring backspinn. Hitting more up on the ball will give you less backspinn than before regardless the driver you use. Your miss tells me there are a lot of wrist rolling/turning over in your release. Watch this video and try to get more stable release: kzbin.info/www/bejne/np2WfqOvgrCehMUsi=h3yN-2x-eM9tHI79

I’m a senior golfer. I can swing fast but when I’m hitting a ball I seem to subconsciously slow down to protect my contact. Any thoughts on over coming that ‘worry’?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 9 ай бұрын
Hi. Normally when this is a problem we are doing something in the swing that we need to correct on the way to the ball. The correction forces us to slow down to be able to hit the shot we want. You probably feel it somewhere halfway like a glitch and a hesitation on your way to the ball. Most often the path of the club. Try to find what it is and that will unlock your full speed swing. When your swing is healthy it will probably be the opposite and you will be faster hitting a ball.

Marcus, Along with swinging inside to out (club path), where is your club face aligned at address and at impact ? When trying to hit inside out I have always aligned my club face square to the target line at address, but I think this may be wrong and perhaps my club face should be facing somewhat inside out at address. Can you address this in one of your presentations, thanks.

I can talk about again in the next driver video. Your club face needs to be half as open as your swing path. If you swing 6 degrees out you will hit a good draw with a 3 degree open face. You don't need to have it open at adress but I like to have it that way. 👍

In order to hit a ball sitting 4 or 5 inches off the turf would require a fairly good eye to hand coordination. I don’t see anyone using a tee that long unless they are in long drive competitions. I could see myself skying a lot of my drives. I would rather change out my driver to a more lofted one and stay with 3” tees. My natural swing produces a draw of some degree, but a push or pull is a result of poor swing movement such as weight transfer / rotation for me. You have to admire what Markus does and how he demonstrates it through clear and consistent instruction.👍🇨🇦👨‍🦳

Anyone who skyes the ball is swinging out and down. If you get a little draw your club face is closed. In my group of 16 golfers all seniors I am the only one who hits a high draw because I tee high! It's easy to hit from a high tee if you never ground your driver. Simply float the driver 4-6 inches behind the ball and swing up and through. Marcus had an excellent example of swing path by thumping the ground a foot behind the ball . Works great.
