We can’t stop doing things in the swing until we replace it with something else. If we understand that our arms need more movement from the top before my rotation becomes too big.
Online lesson are now a possibility on Skillest: skillest.com/a...
Let me help you get an effortless golfswing with speed and accuracy. I call it the circle of speed. A good release will help you to a better impact and longer drives and irons without slice and hook. How to swing a golf club need to be adjusted to your skill level and experience.
Long and straight is the goal for everyone but it takes time. Try to focus on one thing not everything when you practise. Impact, face control and swingpath will always be the most important part to drill. We focus too much on rotation but no good golf shot will be executed just by rotating.
I’m naturally right handed but all my tips works for both left handed and right handed golfers playing either way.
We also need to understand that many myths in golf are misleading. Everything that you find on the internet isn’t true. Ben Hogan, Sam Snead are two of the legends that are often misunderstood. To understand golf we need to take it step by step and learn every part of the swing before we move on to the next. It's like a big jigsaw puzzle that we all can figure out.
Some pro's that hit draw: Rory McIroy, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Reed, Sepp Straka and many, many more.
We shall not keep our head still, only start with the hips, look only at the ball or keep the left or right arm straight. Understand what do do with the club and let your body find the best way possible.
If you use callaway, ping, titleist or taylor made clubs doesn’t matter you can learn to hit good golf shots. Your loft or your shaft on the club will not change but you can always get better.
Find what inspires you. Golf basics are the same for everyone. The pga tour, longdrivers or other good golfers can all help you find better golf shots. Watch what they do instead of listed to what they say. Listen mostly to your body and figure out what you need to do to produce the same results as the pros on TV. Be careful when you watch a golf swing in slow motion. The result isn't always what the golfer is trying to do. Feel and real are seldom the same.
Mike Malaska, Mike Austin, Mike Dunaway, Pete Cowen and Steve Pratt are some of my favorite golf instructors online. Find the tips that make your golf better. Decide what you want to hit. I teach a draw but many like a fade and nobody likes a hook or slice.
Your hips or your lag is not the key to golf. Your hands will decide the shot and you can do like Tiger Woods and trust your hands. Teach your hands to hit different shots. Hit big hooks and slices to understand what happens. Only straight is not gonna teach you anything.
Bryson Dechambeu and Kyle Birkshire can inspire you to hit it longer. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson can give you inspiration and motivation to test new things and new golf shots. Linn Grant, Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg can show you the future of golf.
The Masters, Players Championship, The Players, The Open and US Open can make you love golf even more. See the best in the world solve all the problems we all need to master any golf course. Golf is a craft and you need fantasy, feel and skills to master it.
Questions my videos will answer:
How to swing faster. How to hit longer. How to swing faster. How to hit your irons better. How to be better at anything. How to master the circle of speed. How to get a better short game. How to hit your wedge better. How to release the golf club. How to rotate in golf. Best tips for beginner golfers. How to hit down on the ball. How to hit up on the ball. How to rotate hips in the golf swing. How to hit straight every time. How to stop slicing. How to swing effortlessly.

I am right hand golfers. I have been working on circle of speed for awhile. Slowly I have been moving the ball back in my stance and presently it is under my right ear. Scary but it's working. Even my 3 wood is working. My right shoulder behaves itself and I get a better circle. 60 years of golf one way is difficult to overcome but my brain is slowly adapting.

Great instruction Marcus thankyou, just one thing i don't seem to get right is club face at adress. Sometimes if i open my stance and also my club face i can hit a draw, on the otherhand close my stance and club face same result but no consistancy with either. What stance and club face alignment do you reccomend please. So glad your fitness is coming back keep up with fantastic instructions.

Hi Marcus, great video, thank you. This teaching has transformed my golf swing, as you know. Another thing I've mentioned before, is the back swing, which i am now using Jack Nicklaus back swing. Everything else is, Marcus Edblad teachings. I know you said a back swing doesn't hit the ball, though without a decent back swing, i have found many things can go wrong intermittently. Like rolling the forearms too much, can lead to many bad things and not being able to keep arms relatively in front of your chest, can lead to even more problems, getting stuck, etc.. The Jack Nicklaus back swing, with the chicken wingish/flying elbow, helps keep the hands relatively in front of the chest and minimizes forearm rotation, which i know you talked about this in a video, that sometimes you catch yourself doing that. All of this, makes it way easier to push with the trail arm, back down along the trail side of the body. And also not have to worry so much about whether the forearms have been turned sufficiently to square the club face. peace love light

Your backswing will not hit a ball but a bad back swing will make it a lot harder to hit it good. I like that "Nicklaus" back swing and tried it. Great job to find what you need. 👍

Great video. What would be the disadvantage to starting with a close setup ( Jim Venetos) ? It seems it would promote an easier swing to the inside out. Your thoughts. Thanks
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 15 күн бұрын
It blocks the trail side to push forward and we will loose a lot of speed in the release. In relationship with our stance we will actually be swinging outside and in instead of swinging away from us. Not a good formula for distance and accuracy and that why you hardly ever see a closed stance on tour.

If we push forward and out with the trail hand we will alway have rotation and the hips will open. It is natural and necessary 👍

So Marcus, on your downswing at about waist height, is your club handle pointing 45 degrees out also? I’d say yes or close. JS

That would push my hands to far a way from me. The handle is pointing more towards me and slightly out. I am trying to send the club head out 45 degrees but I don't point the handle that way.

To get that out to in feeling should you setup with a closed stance?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 15 күн бұрын
Not if you want to maximize the release. The important motion is to swing inside to out in relationship to your stance, to swing forward. A closed stance will only effect how we swing in relationship to the target line but it will not make the swing better or more effective.

Trying to figure out the timing and when to use our bodies properly in a golf swing is like trying to figure out all stuff you can use in a Smart Phone 🤔😣🤔 But…understanding that hitting way out in front of you …your arm bones in there shoulder sockets will roll just enough with out the body rotation to make contact with the ball not sending it way out but more way in What we as individuals have to do is invest time with practice to find our own individual “way out “ area realizing that our arm bones will cut that way out angle in half…it is for me I didn’t hear you mention the angle of your club face when your hitting on your way out It does make it interesting for the ball flight just as the body rotation does I may figure out my Smart Phone with all this down time here in south Louisiana with the amount of snow today … go figure 🤔😣🤔
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 15 күн бұрын
Swinging out with a good release will give you a decent face angle and a pretty good shot but to figure this out it is good to try to hit a straight push as far out we can to separate the swing of the club from the target. 👍

Marcus, if our shoulders rotated 180 degrees, the trail shoulder would turn all the way around to where the lead shoulder is at address. Even John Daly only rotated about 120 degrees. Most people rotate their hips about 45 degrees and their shoulders about 90 degrees.

@@lawrencecirillo3233 I understand your point. Most people don't have that level of flexibility. I know I don't. But it's not really about the numbers. I think his point is that the hips don't move/rotate as much as your arms, which you bare out in your 45 to 90 degree statement. Additionally, I would say the distinction between shoulders and arms could hold some importance as Marcus, like any instructor, is describing this from his perspective and in his terms. Since the shoulders and arms aren't the same body part, it could skew one's understanding of the rest of the information.

Your hands move from straight down to almost straight up Almost a half rotation, 180 degrees. That is a lot more than the 30-45 degrees our hips move.

So if we are on a clock circle and straight back is 6 o'clock and straight through is 12 o'clock and we right hand golfers exaggerate circle of speed by feeling 4 o'clock back to the inside and 10 o'clock outside coming through AND I DONT 'release' or 'square' club somehow, I HIT PUSH AFTER PUSH AFTER PUSH with square divot and 40-100 ft putts. Also, IF MY SHOULDERS LEAD coming down and out to 10 o'clock just a smidge, I'm over top and my clock is more like 12 or 1 o'clock and hit pulls and fades and slices. I'm respectfully baffled why you dismiss " keeping shoulders or back or chest to target? Please get your chalk out and draw a clock circle to help me as 6 handicap and 70 years old
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 15 күн бұрын
Our mental and physical energy should be used to what we are supposed too do. When we keep or hold something from moving we can still mess up the swing. We can all learn to move our body and arms in balance, I see it every day. Hitting a straight push is a good practice to disconnect the swing of the club from the target and when we can do that we can learn to release but it’s hard to do/learn both at the same time.
