The fact that this thing existed and was used in WWII is literally terrifying to me; it's a freaking robot bomb. Robots were un-heard of before the 50s; you'd think this would be a terrifying sight to see. But I love how the soldiers played around one it; one guy literally rode around on it like it was a toy.

It's realy not very impressive. The first remote controlled boat was made by Nicolas tesla in 1898. The U.S. also used remote controll during ww2. They mainly used it to turn outdated fighter planes into remote controlled drones for target practice, but the navy also used the TDR-1 which was a torpedo bomber combat drone (of which over 200 were made). I recommend looking it up, it looks very dieselpunk. If you want something realy impressive I recommend taking a look at the ASM-N-2 "Bat", a active radar homeing glidebomb deployed towards the end of ww2 by the U.S. navy for anti ship warfare. That thing was 20 years ahead of its time at the very least.

I find it ironic that they named them Goliath since in the bible he was a big dude, like huge.
@dereenaldoambun91586 жыл бұрын
Kascio GG I wonder why the German love to name their tank contrary to what it is. E.g: Maus(Big ass tank named after a small creature),Ratte(Super big ass tank named after another small creature) meanwhile Goliath(small tank named after a big dude)

Ah, takes me back. The Regiment had a larger one that came out once a year for the Men's Christmas Dinner. A pipe had been attached as a gun, with a breech. A two part arming procedure (toilet paper, thunder flash), and a loud noise. A small amount of risk, as you had to be cool to close the breech after lighting the thunder flash. Nothing important was risked, because the most junior officer in the regiment was the gunner. Facta non verba

It has a name. Actually it was invented by the french but used by germans only.. This suicide Tank is called "Goliat" ( english version "Goliath" ) Used by Wehrmacht and SS and it was preety useful. The US soldiers and russian didnt ever thiught hat such a small thing could hurt them and those who get near never made it back. Whole Bridges in french towns were blown up with enemy troops on it and all thos went to death. It was useful but still the lost war was lost. To our all luck.
@duglife22305 жыл бұрын
0:24. They had "Power Wheels" before they were a thing!
@Haloprogamer199611 жыл бұрын
Well, that is somehow easy to desttroy this suicide "trooper" The goliath wouldnt die because of a simple bullet out of a rifle. Also it was able to carry far more than a dog. A dog wouldn't be able to carry so much and has to be feeded while a goliath just needs oil. Also you can control a goliath far better than a dog. You can only say something to a dog you dont know if he really does it.

As i said. Dogs cant carry so much and are easier to "destroy" than a goliath and also a more easy target. I bet those dogs also had gone to the wrong tank and exploded there but well i think it wouldnt be si much damage.
