Great video as always. Yak fishing is a blast I have just got spoiled to my pontoon boat that I have cleaned the whole floor off and made it into a fishing boat. I’ve got it lined with rod holders and nothing is on the floor but the steering wheel and the seat. It’s 24 foot of open floor and he has spoiled me to fishing that way. I get my bait from below wilson dam in those rough waters so that big boat I can cruise right up in them big boils and get my Skip jack with no trouble. I’m too scared to go up there in a small boat or a yak. Also I stay fishing all night a lot of times and I need the comfortability to move around and lay down etc. And then my wife fishes with me And she brings 300 pounds of stuff that we don’t need

great video, lots of fish. a boat would allow you to get to the dam, give you more range and get out of bad weather more quickly. maybe catch another paddlefish. but there are enough choices in fishing as it is lol. stay safe.
@wilsonrawlin85472 жыл бұрын
It should be noted just how durable and the superior quality of your fishing rod and reels. The work load in the poles is outstanding for big fish. Reel's drags are smooth as butter. If you are considering to buy heavy tackle for cats or medium game saltwater rigs these are the way to go. Incredible quality at a very reasonable price.

It looked like your knot came loose, had that happen on 2 good fish so I changed knots from a traditional snell to on with a slip knot. Had alot of trouble with heavy line coming loose.
@davidransom44762 жыл бұрын
Line broke, in the middle of the leader, or at the knot? Mine always seemed to break at the knot. I have to see your rig video to see if you lubricate when snugging the knot up. If you don't, "they" say it stretches the mono and damages it a little.

I've noticed that in my area the catfish seem to only want to bite early morning. Prime time is from 5am to about 10am. Anything before or after that I either get nibbles and no bites or no nibs at all. But 5 to 10 it's bite city depending on where I'm dropping line. Granted I use small treble hooks and that magic bait from Walmart and I tend to catch fish sticks. I got a cast net and I'm thinking about giving it a try and going for some shad so I can try for some bigger ones. So far my pb this year is a 3.12 channel. That one was fun to reel in.
@patrickmontgomery81172 жыл бұрын
Try using live or cut bluegill! Bigger bait/hooks will weed out the dinks. Up your tackle and you'll be in good shape to land some bigger fish!
@jackgoodner67892 жыл бұрын
what reels are you using in this video
@chillville55715 ай бұрын
Have you thought about using longer rods and turning the rod holders out a little to keep the baits further away from each other or is there an advantage to using the rod length you have now?
@KayakCatfish5 ай бұрын
Longer rods would definitely put more distance between the baits but personally I find longer rods to be a nuisance to use in a kayak.
@chillville55715 ай бұрын
@@KayakCatfish yeh come to think about it, it would be harder to bait hooks and land fish. Looks you got it all figured out. You know, you could make a killen setting up your other kayak and being a guide. People dont need anything but money, you supply the kayak, rods and bait. Heck, i'd drive a few hundred miles from Raleigh NC and pay you a few hundred for a day of catching some fat ol' cats.

@KayakCatfish2 жыл бұрын
Depending on how they are stored, they can last a few months. Personally I don’t like using frozen shad as they tend to get a little mushy when they thaw.
