For today, we explore just one: GommeHD, a massive German minigame network owned by a Minecraft KZbinr, with a playerbase surpassing that of many world-renowned servers and a history stretching all the way back to the middle of 2012.

A gamemode which is only available on this Server is EnderGames. A Survival Game mode where random people switch position after a certain amount of time. Afaik this is one of the most played games back in 2015/16 even being played international. Also, I think GommeHD is still the only server with the right to have this gamemode (but please don't quote me on that)

Not true, lol. EnderGames had it's hype in early 2014. Afterwards the player numbers in EG decreased rapidly. In the end of summer 2014 GommeHD put Bedwars on their network and that's what the majority of the players was playing. Already around 2016 / 2017 EG was pretty much dead, mostly just a few concurrent rounds playing and impossible to get full rounds at night.

GommeHD brings back so many memories. I am from Germany and remember that Gomme created the server as a subscriber special. It was the first multiplayer server I visited back in 2015 because my friends all played on the server. My Minecraft skill was obviously trash back then, but I still enjoyed it. I stopped playing Minecraft in 2017 because it became boring. When I returned to the game in 2020, I created a Discord server and during quarantine, me and my friend were online daily playing 1vs1, which eventually got boring too. Today I mostly play on Hypixel because the gamemodes are more fun and the rank required for private games is much cheaper.

Not sure if this is gonna be seen since this was a couple of years ago upload but Gomma HD also dominated in Europe and especially Russia, for their Bedwars mode which was way more challenging than hypixel at the time and a lot of Russian content creates made their entire image of that game mode alone

The German server landscape was way more KZbinr dominated than the English scene and Gomme was one of the first ones to become popular. The fact that it worked great and was almost always filled to capacity during the minecraft hype train also added to the desire to play on it.( fun fact i dont know how they pulled it of but the server was often overfilled with 8200/8000 players, we belived it was due to premium players being able to join anyways on reserved slots that you could "accidentaly" slide into when you loged in at the same time as a premium player. This is not verified).

Just wanted to put out there: 2016 the max player that could play (excapt special ranks as Premium...) was 20.000. Over the day for months u had to spam click for minutes to be lucky enough to join the Server. If it Minecraft comes to germans we aint playing games. Such PvP Nerds.

8:53 Might have been one of the smaller gamemodes on the server but I will always be able to say that I was ranked 14. alltime on the biggest minecraft server in the world (Molecraft btw). Still nostalgia looking at some of the old vids (1 person above me admitted to me privately that they cheater and I was always confused how people had such a good K/D above me so I might even have been top 10 of legit players).
