I'm not sure if self-deprecating humor is the natural way to show your humorous side in America. Don't get me wrong, I may not have a sophisticated sense of humor, but I noticed when I talk about how horribly I'm doing, people start sympathizing instead of laughing with me.

I read an interesting book on sarcasam in country's. It says that islands like Great Britain and Japan are very good at understanding sarcasam. Because we have not been exposed to different races migrating to our country's, we have learnt to second guess each others meaning, in Japan they say talking from the air. But Americans had to learn to be precise and efficient when talking to people because of the many different races in their country, they naturally had to speak clearly and to the point.

I was walking down the street the other day and saw a Chinese guy walking a rat the size of a small dog. This absolutely fascinated and befuddled me, so I walked up to him and asked, "Where did you get that?" *takes drink of water* The rat replied, "I bought him at a Chinese flea market." **Cue the PC comments**

Miguel Rodríguez VERY good question! I'd like to make a video about this in particular because it is very different in English / American culture. In general, the best choices are "African-American" or "black people."
@snatchngrab82628 жыл бұрын
It is never ok to make fun of other people. It is just fine, however, to make jokes using race, religion, and region as the topic. This is preaching your opinion rather than teaching English. Your preferences from your subculture are just that, and only that.
