Just purchased one of these Bellis & Morcom generator sets, a bit smaller than the one pictured but still a hefty 15 tons. Looking forward to restoring it.

Taking us back to the first part of the twentieth century and do we what to return to this day and age...? No thinking not..!! Those triple expansion engines were the first to power England, Hayle Power Station had 4, in 1870, again, Baliss and Morcom, Birmingham produced and these are still working 150 years later.. simply wonderful video...👍👍

As you can see, it's well loved. It's not the only one we saw in Java, but none of the others were still active. However, at about the same time we went to India where we found more of this type at work at Khaitan although they don't look quite so shiny! kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYu7cqGslKidaqc

I'm not surprised, it was rarely used in my time. I'm pleased to hear it still exists.
