As an indoor plant enthusiast, it broke my heart to watch it come down. Now seeing the rainbow fish in the angle tank however, it made me realise, the river tank didn't really provide optimal viewing of the fish. So it was a good move to revamp. It's been a while since I kept them, but I loved my gouramis (reg Pearl's) and I would compare them to being like big Goldfish. Only with antennae on their chin. They dart quickly, then stop, dart...stop - move their antennae around. The males can get a little territorial when building bubble nests, but I found having lots of floating plants with long roots, prevented them from harassing tank mates.
@asr20214 жыл бұрын
Hey, MD! Not familiar with the dimensions of your fish room. But I think you should go ahead with your initial idea. Swing that big tank to the side of the room. But then, get yourself a racking system which can act as a divider and can house around say 6 nano tanks? Then you'd get more tanks and multiple viewing angles. Just a thought. But you do you. Would continue watching either way. Love your videos!
@debbiebamrick40204 жыл бұрын
I like the idea of moving that tank to the wall and then you could put something really cool in the middle- like a reef tank that has lots of beautiful corals which we will be able to see it whenever you do your videos!

Rainbow river will be missed. What if the tank swing to the wall but have a stack of mini tanks with different coloured plants to replace the space as a room divider? One tank featuring red plants and another featuring pinks and purples that would look so cool. You still get light in the middle of the room, have a backdrop, and lots more tanks to explore!
@stephencoxfishkeeper88984 жыл бұрын
For me personally keep the tank in the same place. It will give you more room for tanks as you said. Would love to see a long short height aquarium, made to look like a British river/stream. With plants running either edge and rocks running down the centre. With good flow.

I used to be heavily into the hobby but life and other things got in my way and I shut down my last tank - a 125 gallon African cichlid tank 6 years ago. I’m presently growing out plants before getting back into the hobby and have been enjoying your channel since it started. The small bowl and vase aquariums just got me. I fell in love with the channel and the passion you exuded and continue to exude. I understand that the bigger tanks offer more possibilities but I wish you’d do some smaller ones more often. Unless you feel the challenge in those is gone. It would be interesting to have you talk about the channel and what you want it to be. I think it’s changed quite a bit from the beginning. Or maybe that’s just my feeling. The swiftness of changes to the tanks has surprised me. I expected a longer stay for any given tank. I did think with the new studio you’d let the tanks grow out and discuss how each was doing. I just find that they just get established. I want to watch them evolve and ... boom ... they’re gone. You have to do what you feel is best but I’d love to hear what you have planned from a strategic perspective. Are any fresh water tanks staying long term? Are you cycling each after 6 months? Etc. Thanks.

Keep the former river tank in the middle as it is aaaaaand.. use it for the reef tank 😍 I think that size is perfect for a reef and the wave generator that you'd need. A plus is that reef tanks are generally very colorful, and that goes beautifully when it comes to have it as a "background" for you while filming the Vlog. Cheers!

I still like the idea of rotating the tank back against the wall. I feel like if we must lose the rainbow river, then you should go full change all the way. It makes the space seem smaller to me, and maybe with it out of the way, you can still fit in more tanks in the middle without getting too cramped.

Build a rack against the wall. You could then stack two tanks which are the same size as the one in the middle in that space. That or one big tank up top, three on bottom or whatever. Think a rack sort of thing would be the way to go to maximize space.
@pocobull4 жыл бұрын
Personally I was thinking that would be the tank to do your reef set up. You made the point that that tank in it's current position is an awesome backdrop no matter where you are in studio, so how awesome would it be to have a reef tank as the backdrop? Also, it would create a very cool divider in the room, having freshwater on either side and saltwater in the middle. Just my 2 pence worth :)
@MDFishTanks4 жыл бұрын
That's a bit of a hefty jump though to go to a massive reef tank like that?

Organic, free range worms... 😆 The fish in the Rainbow River, except for the Rainbows, are all Asian fish. Gotta say, not huge on you returning fish to the store. Fish get stressed with being moved and that can even kill them. Just not a fan of that being done.

I am pleased with your final decision and am quite interested to see how a dirted tank would work on a larger scale, done by someone who knows his stuff. I love the way the tank divides your fish room, and you have room for more tanks on either side of it; Win/win. It's going to look fantastic. If you are going with an Asian fish/flowy tank, how about white clouds. I know you've kept them before, and I think they would look brilliant with your aquascaping plans. Anyway, it's nice to be able to share my comments with you again. Cheers.
