The reason no-one remembers this is that it happened in Oct 2020. There was a "certain laptop" entering the "news" about that time.

He was lucky he wasn't taken hostage a year later. He would, likely, have still been there. The military force would have still been there, but I'm not sure the will to use them would have been. We would likely have offered Cinnabon's and lattes. I had not heard of it either and I follow this sort of stuff.

Hey Recky. Unfortunately, back at this time these stories were not really uncommon, so alot did not get as much coverage as you would think. Remember the world press was much more interested in covering american political in-fighting than anything else at that time. Especially if the story made the political party those news agencies were not really affiliated with look good. Americans missed a lot of world news throughout much of the twenty-teens, and don't even know they missed it. Peace❤😊.

It would make a lot of sense for other countries to try to create a US alliance that includes rescue missions like this. The problem being that these rescue missions are expensive, and that would mean that the alliance would not be as free as a non-aggression pact.

I think he was actually at his home. It just so happened that he and his father were American citizens working abroad as missionaries and farmers. Isn't it nice to know that we would also spend the money and effort to save you also if you were in danger?

@randallshuck2976 My feet are firmly planted on U.S. soil. The only way I would have to be rescued is if I was kidnapped and taken to another country. But since I'm just an old lady and not rich or affiliated with any organization or group, I don't think I have anything to worry about. I would never put myself or my country in that position.

Jessica Buchanan was kidnapped as a missionary in Africa by terrorists. I think in Somalia. A Dutch man was captured with her, their driver killed. The same type of rescue operation took place. A month later the Dutchman was asked how he felt about being kidnapped. He responded…grateful I was kidnapped with an American. We have the might…and usually the will…to reach around the world for our own.🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸😎
