To those _positive people_ out there we need to say: *THANK YOU* so much for the kind and uplifting words. These past few months have been a struggle but it's kindness and positivity that keeps us chugging along with our heads held as high as we can lift them. If you just read the title and assumed that we are back on our sailboat CURIOSITY and left a comment like "so glad you're back" or "can't wait to see you sailing again soon" please know this is not a video about us flying home to our boat in Tonga. This is a short escape from isolation here in Fiji. It's a huge step in the right direction but borders are still closed in Fiji and Tonga so for now there is ZERO chance we're getting back to our home. *We cannot fly on a private jet, hop on a cargo ship, sail over, or have anyone sail our catamaran because borders are closed, which means borders are closed to all forms of travel (not just commercial airlines).* That said we are doing our best to stay positive and share relevant and uplifting videos. We'll do our best to keep things interesting, even if we aren't allowed to fly home and sail on our boat. We'd like to give a HUGE shout-out to our Patreons and the people that have visited our tip jar and left a nice comment and tip. Without your support we wouldn't be able to continue sharing this adventure, especially during this pandemic. 🙏🏻 We've shared more on our website here: www.gonewiththewynns.com/escape-isolation

Thanks for the splashy bubbles and kisses off the wings into the water! Seaplanes and sailboats do have one thing in common: They both fly using the same aeronautic physics of birds' wings, even below the waterline for craft with hydrofoils (e.g.: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZLLZ3mHhZqisM0, kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHnFqo2oe5uYnqM), keels and centerboards. Full thanks to Ted & family for this fun excursion aboard such a fine aircraft! Keep smiling, Wynns! The restrictions are loosening up... Fair Winds, S/V "Windwalker"

I’m right there with y’all. Amazed at my capacity to experience opposing feelings simultaneously. I’ve bounced between gratitude for all the things that haven’t happened in all this and being a whiny-baby-butt for all the things that haven’t happened in all this. I had myself psyched for the long winter last year when we were stranded in Carrollton, KY settling the sale of my husband’s business. I learned to knit, went to all kinds of activities at the library, toured surrounding areas, exercised, took art lessons, etc. We were prepared to hit the road mid-March. I’ve not done the Spring months so well. Restless, irritable, weepy. The uncertainty is challenging. Thanks for your honesty- I don’t need super heroes to make me feel inadequate. I need camaraderie, kinship, connection. Again, thanks.

What a great outing and thanks for sharing!! I flew in a very small seaplane many, many years ago ... so small that I did get to sit in the right hand seat :). The 2 other passengers were a couple and they had the rear seats. The pilot was in shorts, tank top and flip flops. It was a flight out to Ft. Jefferson (Key West) to snorkel and explore for a day. Anyway, good memory but I would LOVE to know about the electronics on the seaplane you flew on. When I flew, I was amazed that the pilot could tell where the water surface was: clear water and difficult to see vs land ... at least for me. And First Descents ... a good friend had a great experience with First Descents after cancer recovery. I think it is a great organization and one of the things she expressed, as a very young adult, was feeling like her body had betrayed her and the First Descents experiences helped her mental recovery greatly.

So - around $650/hour divided by miles = about $4.00 per mile? That fun ain't cheap. I've always found that it's way more fun to fly someone else's plane. Or boat, for that matter!

If you thought RVing and sailing was expensive, try flying! Between what they spent on ALL of their RVs, AND Curiosity, and everything else, they can get a 'comfortable' single engine airplane, say a Beech Bonanza, or an older Piper Malibu (not the newer Piper Mirage). Six place seating, the Malibu/Mirage is pressurized, but both only have one engine, and for long distance travelling, I'd want a twin. A new Beech Baron is about $1.4M. Piper still makes the Seneca, Cessna no longer makes any twin piston aircraft, but a nice used 340A will set you back half a mil, after engine and avionics upgrades. Oh, no having Jason working on it if you want to be legal, has to be an A&P mechanic.

Check out my Twin Otter story at www.skiesmag.com/features/otter-devotion-bob-ambrose-twin-otters/ These aircraft are built by Viking Air, based in North Saanich, Vanvouver Island, British Columbia.

Darth Fluffy, yep a Twin Otter is just about as bulletproof as you can make a small plane. Maintain it and the last forever. Or at least as far as we can tell.

I can't get over the "sea tender for a super yacht". Really?
@blueboats75304 жыл бұрын
Well yeah, if you've got a super yacht located in a remote tropical paradise, you want to get from the international airport to the remote tropical paradise in privacy and comfort . . .

Ahhh Mick, to be the first to comment you have to be VERY quick and stealth and handsome helps too, that's why "I" was able to take first place honors on this very special SEAplane video. WHOO Hoo!

Please don't let it get to you Nikki, day by day, you will prevail. Being stuck in paradise is hard, to be so close and yet so far from your home. Be thankful for what you do have, each other. And all your fiends out here. Soon you will be hard at work on your boat getting her ready for new adventures. Peace.
