Great video. You all had a great time. Brings back fond memories of my life in Alaska. Sorry about your drone, Ben. We would use the glacier ice in our ice chests. The ice is extremely dense-packed down by thousands of tons of pressure over many years. It melts so much slower than convenience store ice. We had a mini iceberg in the ice chest for over a month once. (Of course summer temps rarely hit 70 in Juneau.) Those halibut were a perfect size. I think they call em "chicken halibut" at that age. The big ones are tough & can actually hurt you with their tails. Some fishermen shoot them before getting the large halibut in the boat. There's no place like Alaska.

sure looked like fun. fresh halibut, yum!😉

Wow, thanks for sharing such a well put together video. LOVED the Orca footage. You caught enough fish for a feast - we're on our way! ;)- Losing the drone and camera is going to give us nightmares! Need a floaty on that thing (well the next one). Did you get to see any glacier calving?
@gonewiththewynns9 жыл бұрын
+Backroads Vanner We are still enjoying the fish and its super yummy! We did hear lots of cracks, pops and squeaks but didn't see any calving on that day. We did see some at other glaciers on other days though. So incredible! -nikki

I have a 3DR IRIS+ Drone with gimbal and Gopro Hero 3+ and my son Has the DJI Phantom. I have to say, I don't like the return to home feature of the Phantom. The IRIS+ has a great RTH features. If it looses contact with controller, RTH, if it flys past a pre specified distance -automatic RTH, if batteries drop below specified levels - Automatic RTH. Also has a RTH switch, flip it and it climbs to a pre specified height and RTH. Plus it is cheaper. Paid total of $1300 for mine including gimbal and gopro. Just a recommendation.

I would love to go fishing with both of you, specially Nikki! The best trips are always with best people more than it is the location or destination. You guys have the same energy i have and the people I associate myself with. I am actually going soon ( in a month) to Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Philippines to go island hoping. Would traveling to Asia be in your plans anytime soon?

Oooooooooo...flying a drone over any water makes me cringe!!! Then this happens. Well, I will never fly a drone over any body of water unless I put light weight floats on it just in case it goes down. Sorry to see your drone go down in the water, Captain. Hopefully you can recover the cost by having more visitors go on your fishing trips. I would love to go sometimes.
