John Wayne saw Pedro Gonzalez-Gonzalez on this and signed him to a personal contract, casting him in “The High and the Mighty” and “Rio Bravo.” The guy was a natural performer.

Groucho was one the funniest men alive and always loved to be the center of the stage, but appreciative enough of good comedy to let someone else upstage him and take the spotlight because he was just that funny.

What a young man with great talent. To bad America was not ready for people like him at that time.

People loved him. I remember watching him in movies often. He probably got harassed off set.the times were tough for non-whites then. We've come a long way since then. My People weren't prejudice. So I might have a different perspective than others.

Pedro is like a Latin Buster Keaton -- master of the deadpan!
@patfromamboy Жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what I thought too when I saw him. I’m a big Buster Keaton fan and think people are much funnier when they keep a straight face like he did. Adam Sandler is terrible because he always has a smirk or smile and can’t keep a straight face. I worked with a guy who always looks very serious so we try to make each other smile. He’s a very funny person and part of it is because of his deadpan look.

Pedro was a true song and dance man, started entertaining at the young age of 7,. With no schooling he was always embarrassed about his accent as he was born in San Antoine. He filmed YBYL in Jan, of 1953. This attempted or inspired copy skit referenced Ben Hurr which was made in 1959.

“Not too much, I gotta buy beans tomorrow.” It’s tough to tell who’s the straight man here. They’re both funny. And early on Groucho really cracked up and laughed, which in itself was pretty unusual. But I can’t believe the two contestants couldn’t come up with the final answer which was Gomorrah. Sodom and Gomorrah! C’mon kids.
