Goo Goo Dolls is a rock band renowned for their hits “Iris,” “Slide,” “Name,” “Black Balloon,” “Better Days,” “Come To Me,” and “Here Is Gone.” They worked with artists like Sydney Sierota, Taylor Swift, and Avril Lavigne - amassing billions of global streams and garnering critical acclaim.
Lyrics:
And even though the moment passed me by
I still can't turn away
'Cause all the dreams you never thought you'd lose
Tossed along the way
Letters that you never meant to send
Get lost or thrown away
And now we're grown-up orphans
That never knew their names
We don't belong to no one
That's a shame
You could hide beside me
Maybe for a while
And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell 'em your name
Scars are souvenirs you never lose
The past is never far
Did you lose yourself somewhere out there?
Did you get to be a star?
And don't it make you sad to know that life
Is more than who we are?
You grew up way too fast
And now there's nothing to believe
And reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio
And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell 'em your name
I won't tell 'em your name
I won't tell 'em your name
I think about you all the time
But I don't need the same
It's lonely where you are
Come back down
And I won't tell 'em your name

I’ll never understand how the Goo Goo Dolls made such blatantly romantic soft rock songs without even a hint of cheese, corniness, or cringe. Their work has aged better than most.

Have you ever wondered where your soul goes after this life? We are sinners despite any tiny sins we commit like lying, bad thoughts, or cussing. It doesn't even matter how many good deeds we do because one little sin is bad enough already. We cannot make it up to heaven on our own will. Our God, Jesus Christ, decided to come down to Earth as a SINLESS human and sacrificed His life for our sins. Then He resurrected three days later! Therefore if you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is your Savior, you'll definitely have eternal life. Your existence is proof that God is real. Consider this: A creation like you have a Creator. Only in the Bible does it mention that God is the Creator of mankind. God is the only one who can create your body, your organs, your features, your blood, and fingerprints. That is why nobody has the same finger prints nor DNA as you. YOU ARE UNIQUE THANKS TO OUR GOD, JESUS CHRIST! Have a great day!

The Lord Jesus Christ became the Savior of sinners (all humans) by coming down from Heaven & dying on the 🪵 wooden cross for our sins. God raised Him from the dead, and Jesus is now a living Savior with God in heaven. But don't lose hope. Anyone can be saved from their sins and from going to hell in two easy, peasy steps: 1. Realize that you are a sinner who CAN'T SAVE YOURSELF from going to the lake of fire (forever) 🔥 based on your good deeds, your own philosophy, and other religions. 2. Realize that you need to believe in your heart ❤️ that ONLY Jesus Christ died for your sins. If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart ❤️ that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart ❤️ man believe unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Congratulations! 🎊 👏 After this life, you're on your way to heaven forever! ⬆️💯🥳

I wish I could personally thank the Goo Goo Dolls for saving my life with this song. This song continues to give me the strength to live and overcome. I've been one year sober, and even though I'm still homeless, I'm still not giving in. I'm bipolar as well, and I still find strength via music to fight one more day. Peace and love to all those who are in the struggle. May you find strength.

Are you ever just struck with the sudden realization that so much has changed? It hits you like a punch to the stomach when you wonder how so much time has passed since you’ve seen that one person, since someone you’re close to passed away, since you never doubted anything because you were to young to see that the world we live in is full of struggles and melancholy.

Yes, with a heavy heart, I can see age taking its toll on me finally. I have given a good fight, 39 years and still teenager looks.. But the Grey is starting to slightly show. I am considering dying it haha! The past glows like a golden hazy ball always, forever in my mind, and I will re-live things I did in my youth and think back, feeling the sun on my face, the breeze through my hair and I will sip that beer and be thankful I am still able to enjoy the same things. I will do this until I am unable to from age, then I will most likely push my - eventually owned wheelchair off the cliff with something playing like this track, or maybe something happier, and I won't sit babbling, dribbling in a window. I will live while I can and I will die happy.

When we listened to the radio in our cars. When we bought the CD at the store, or music resale store. When we liked the band we heard on the radio. When we'd go to the concerts of the bands we'd listen to on the radio. We might hear the band members on Loveline or an MTV segment, but we didn't have instant access to the bands and band members via KZbin and Wikipedia. I fell in love with a girl to this song, my first heartbreak. As an 80s baby and 90s high-schooler, there are no words to make people understand what it was like compared to nowadays (and nowadays isn't bad, just different). Us 40 somethings, the 90s are ours, perhaps the last generation to experience music innocently.

In 1995, this song came out after my oldest brother passed away. This reminds me of him in so many ways. He was hard of hearing in both ears. Tormented and bullied all his life. Back when he was younger, there were only special schools for mentally challenged children. He was not accepted into these schools for the simple fact that he was okay except for his hearing. Fast forward to his late teens. My father was an abusive alcoholic. Used to beat on him something awful. David turned to alcohol and then eventually, drugs, to numb the pain of his past. Long story short, the pain was too much for him to live with. "If it's lonely where you are, come back down, and I won't tell them your Name..." MISS AND LOVE YOU FOREVER DAB 2/20/59 - 4/3/95

By FAR my favorite Goo Goo Dolls song, especially as I have gotten older. I think that I was in my late teens when then album and song dropped and to be able to enjoy this music for so many years has been amazing and to see wonderful writing and performances has been a treasure, I really miss this music. Yes, times must move forward but we keep our gems from the past with us for the value that they hold.

The lyrics in this song are so deep, especially in the second verse. I think this song is ultimately about growing up and being disappointing about the way life turns out. Nothing beats those sunny afternoons. I'm quite certain the sun shone much brighter back then.

Have u wondered if there's evil and good? Who is the character that people bring up when they are asked who is the leader of evil? Devil right? Who would be the counterpart who is the Supreme or Holiness of all? God, right? Creation is the biggest evidence that we are created by God. Our organs, our DNA, our cells, our urinary systems, our circulatory system, our neural functions, our unique fingerprints, and so forth. Our mothers cannot create any of these things within or outer part of our bodies. But still we love our moms.

Wasn’t a huge fan of these dudes back in the day but, wow, what a tune. As a former radio DJ, I’ll say that this song perfectly represents, not only 90’s music, but also what it meant to be living your life back then: 03:02 this point perfectly encapsulates an era - sonically it represents a sound lightly dipped in early 90’s grunge, rinsed in cool mid/late 90’s alternative to create an anthem for a transitional, end of the century, decade. Kudos, lads 👏 this song will never grow old, only better 🎧

I'm not sure why but this song reminds me of something that I can never forget. My grandmother was going through some old photos and there was a lovely photo of a young happy couple from the war. They weren't my relatives so I asked who they were and she stared sadly and tore up the picture. She said no one would remember them and it was obviously a painful memory. Eventually I found out he was in the RAF and they'd been courting, she got pregnant and he was killed in action. She committed suicide shortly after. I had a horrible feeling that I'd just seen the last memories of the two extinguished. I have no idea what their names were, but they looked so happy. This song makes me think of them even though I didn't know them.

This song never got the credit it deserves. It has always reminded of asking my dad to come back.

I relate to you there. This was the very first song that I can recall playing on repeat when I was a child. It quickly became my favorite song, and it is still my favorite song to this day. However, for all of those years that I listened to not only them but this specific song, it was not until I got to see them live back in September of 2011 and Johnny explained the meaning behind the song, that I realized that this was my life..... I too am an Orphan, though at the time I first heard this song I still had my Dad, he died 2 years later....... like for that song to come full circle like that over 20 years later was just mind blowing. The instrumentals of this song always cut to my core and so for as many times as I have listened to it I just never focused on the lyrics so much..... it's just crazy.

You are a special and unique person. Your life & soul matter. Your life is very short compared to eternity. Therefore if you want to spend eternity on heaven after your life here on earth 🌎, you should believe in your heart ❤️ that Jesus Christ is your Savior. If you don't, you will miss going to heaven and end up in the lake of fire. It is terrible so I beg you to make the only correct decision for God to allow you to go to heaven. Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal life. 🙏 Have a nice day. God does love ❤️ you.
