Building an epic diorama to match a piece of artwork from Warhammer 40k. I use all of the skills and hobby materials at my disposal to capture the mood of this incredible scene. On this giant display base, a space marine is fighting a desperate battle to defend his homeworld from the tyranid hive fleet. Will his planet survive?
This video is part of a collaboration with Squidmar miniatures! Check out his half of the collaboration here: • Surprise Miniature Cha...
In this video, Emil has challenged me to adapt a piece of warhammer 40k art into a diorama. The picture reminds me of the battle for macragge storyline from 4th edition 40k, so that's what I went with! I made a winter battleground scene, and I did my best to paint the marine the way that he is represented in the art!

Everyone seems happy here So first can i ask something I am starting the hobby and I am starting with space marines, what is the vehicle I should get? I got the Warhammer 40K Command edition ($165) and I think I want to get a vehicle with it Right now I choose the predator tank, should I change it to a rhino? Or a drop pod? Maybe a vindicator? ( the land raider kinda goes out of budget tho) Just asking!

Better to be left admiring the professionalism of the presenter, than have him, his Voice, and his Face featured , ad nauseam !

I'm honestly impressed with how accessible that absolutely stunning base is. Whenever I see an awesome diorama I always automatically assume that it took monumentous amounts of work and experience, but the mileage you were able to get from just a few materials and techniques is awesome. I'm thinking that I'm going to create a small diorama like this to memorialize each of my D&D characters once they either die or live to see the end of their journey. Heck, maybe I'll buy a duplicate miniature for the diorama and repaint them so I can have a comparison of how my painting skills have improved.

So am I weird for having a lamp that I place as the light source for my mini's turning off the other lights lights and taking a photo of my mini so I can know exactly how the light would cast shadows on it? I'm not very artsy so it helped me get an idea for how lighting works but I liked the step and now I do it for my more "important" figures.

Another fantastic video and a great challenge. I enjoyed the other half of this challenge as well. Well done on the diorama. I agree on your choice of back drops 100%. In my mind it looks like smoke billowing out of a fissure in the destroyed bunker. Perhaps the fissure the marine crawled out of after detonating the place. But now he's standing up, reloading, ready to fight more.

I am highly impressed with how well this turned out. It is simply great looking and captures the look and feel of the painting! For someone who has stepped out of his comfort zone in modelling I think you have fully achieved what you intended to do and the whole diorama has the appearance of death and desperation. Thanks for sharing your build. I always look forward to a new tutorial from you.

Just found this guy and he sounds like the bob ross of mini painting. Relaxing, soothing, and just watching this makes me want to put down the phone and start painting

You should never be content with the journey, but should be content with each piece you make. Perfection isn't the answer to creating art, its the enemy.

Awesome video and loads of character in the end result. Thanks god it's not just me who goes through the "needs a wash" followed by "too much wash" insta-regret process.

I always just interpereted the picture as "Yes, even just reloading looks glorious and hardcore with Space Marines doing it." But man, now it feels... different, at least. Also, your cats both have a similar hair color to you, so, that's cute. 10/10 3 pts for each cat, 4 for the rest of this awesome assembly.
