Absolutely mental! Riddiculous amount of geese in the sky! And to all that, 47 geese per guy in one day, let that sink in the little head of mine. I'm happy if I get 1 Mallard a year and everything above that is just bonus. This year we had 1 week of goose hunting at the start of the waterfowl season after many years of forbiddance. Where I live in Finnish Lappland the goose hunting is way different than the field hunts. We need to go deep into the woods and swamps where the geese might have been nesting or are just on their way to south and might stop to rest for a night.

Had to rerun this. I really wish I can go snow geese hunting with u guys!! We used to always have thousands of snow passing through my Island, I am from St. Lawrence Island Savoonga, Ak. As I was a kid I used to see thousands of geese flying right above my house at a shooting range, and my dad and uncles used to go to our camp and hunt for a week straight and come back home with 100 500+ snow geese and give each household some to eat. My village is small. Every year geese would migrate from Wrangle Island and Russia down to the lower 48, nowadays we hardly ever see them, they are becoming rare because of climate change.

Not an expert but I think with all the spreads those geese see switching it up a bit can go a long way considering most guys run e callers full blast and set out 2000 deeks.

Back in 1963, a flock of migrating snow geese landed on Wilder Lake, in Hanover, N.H.. At the time, snow geese were highly protected, and local newspapers reported the flock was comprised of most of the snow geese on the East Coast. Now they are very common and considered pests in some areas. They are also harvested in great numbers. Does anyone know how the declining numbers of snow geese was turned around? Was it Ducks Unlimited expanding nesting areas. Do they winter below our border with Mexico?

I think that since then we have been able to expand agriculture and now there is a lot more habitat for them. Some places like Saskatchewan and Alberta where a lot of the landscape it field there is a lot more places them to go and and move around with out being found as often it’s harder scouting and other things now. I live in new Brunswick and all of our geese are Canada’s mainly because we dont have enough agriculture to support a shit ton of snow geese. But also some times regulation like the ones u are talking about are put in place and work but then are not lifted after they do so the population will get out of hand till u have a title wave of geese that u have to try to get rid of with conservation seasons.

I love and raise geese, but I respect this. I live in Arkansas, too!! This is great, bc they do overpopulate and contaminate the water systems. Evening out the food chain like deer hunting, and no disruption in biomass. Awesome 👍

Gooche that is exactly what I was talking about down here in guyden La. when they first allowed this ! It was something that’s hard to explain unless you’ve been able to see it with your on eyes.
