A young mother in the neighbourhood had heard i used to work in a computer repairshop and asked what it would cost to get her son a Decent pc for his birthday. So i went looking on the internet and saw that even rx570's still went for 300 euro's secondhand right now, so i cleaned out the pc i had build as my livingroom pc which had a i3 10100f 16gb of ram a 1tb m.2 ssd and a 8gb rx 570 and i gave it to her to give to her son for his birthday. Really hope these prices go down soon because 300 euro's for a rx 570 is insane.

I'm glad to see someone build a system that actually makes sense for the card used. Most would bench the card with an overkill cpu/mobo combo. And as long as the person doesn't expect miracles, I think they would be happy. And did you test out FSR?
@lgustavoprod

The thing of those overkill mobos is to get the max of the cards, so we can compare it to all the other options as a "Base Standard" line

There is a legitimate reason why reviewers do that. It's to eliminate all other factors and single out the performance of the gpu. That being said it is also good to see this gpu In a "realistic" setup as well. If you put this gpu in a lower end system you're left with the question, what is the limiting factor here? I'm the current market I think this is a great card for the price. You can get a used 480 4gb for around the same price but why would you when you can buy new. Sure the gen 3 gen 4 issue still exists but it isnt a deal breaker for the price imo.
@aleksazunjic9672
@aleksazunjic9672 2 жыл бұрын
Well, actually ... If you use CPU that support only PCIe 3.0 it is kinda stupid to go with MB that supports PCIe 4.0 . It would be better to save few bucks and get H410 chipset, then invest that savings in somewhat better PSU (400-500 W range)
@davidhodge0201
@davidhodge0201 2 жыл бұрын
@@aleksazunjic9672 you could argue that another way. You have a better upgrade path with the 4.0 board.but to each thier own. I've learned from building many computers over the years, don't cheap out on your motherboard, especially if you plan to do upgrades throughout the lif of your platform
@biggiebagel
@biggiebagel 2 жыл бұрын
I agree... The only issue I have with this PC is the motherboard and CPU choice. If the A520 supports PCIe 4.0 (which I think it does) I would have gone that route with a used Ryzen processor to really be economical. Or 11th gen Intel... Any way to at least take advantage of the PCIe 4.0 spec on that card... Or at least set up your system for expansion when most people can get cards.
@Oceanborn712
@Oceanborn712 2 жыл бұрын
We live in such high spec times that it's really easy to forget how little hardware you actually need to have an enjoyable experience with the majority of games. Videos like this are really great to remind people of that. I would still have gone for a PCIe 4 capable setup with this GPU, though. Sometimes the compromises aren't worth the loss in performance.

If anything the shortage has made people realise that the elitist jargon was nothing but hot air. Pre shortage a 1660ti was considered bad value for 1080p or too weak by circlejerk pc groups. Nowadays they are happy if the get a 1050ti at 20% inflation xD.

As someone who builds these types of "budget and available" builds all the time. I really enjoyed this video. The i3 10100/10105 are comparable to an i7 7700, which cost almost double on the used market. Lots of value here for budget focused/new pc gamers. I've build over 10 of these similar spec'd pcs and sold them to local folks new to pc gaming (young and old). I try to find deals on cases and psus to allow for easier upgradeability, but it does up the cost a lil bit. Great video. Nice to see high view content creators dig into the budget building scene. Its my favorite content. Keep it up @bitwit ! My next project... checking to see how well the new pentium dual core g7400 holds up in game. Due to the 12100 doing extremely well in modern games. I think we will all be surprised by what the dual core will be able to accomplish. Hell, maybe I'll finally make a video. Cheers, hardware friends!

Totally worth it. This could be one of those "build with your kid" PC builds. Got a young one coming of age into PC gaming? This is the kind of low end system you'd get them and build with them. If a part gets broken, bent, damage, its not the end of the world. Upgradeability is OK. Next thing would be to swap out PSU and graphics card (or give them your hand-me-down when you upgrade).

After about 5 months into the pandemic. I decided to get an HP Omen pre-built and got a 3070 out of it and a I-9850k. Everything else was pretty much trash. Had to spend another five hundred bucks basically. For a better case and cooling solution. Because a 120 AIO it's not enough for the I-9850k. So needless to say I had to spend a ton on a prebuilt and had to spend more to make it work properly.

I would spend an extra $100 on the i5-11400. That unlocks PCIe gen 4.0 giving you 10-15% more GPU performance and also an Intel iGPU which has a pretty good video encoding engine in case you want to stream or record gameplay. And of course like 50% more CPU performance all for $100. Also an extra $30 on a PSU and case. Fire extinguishers go for around $20-30 so you’ll break even.

Watching this from my 4790k / 1080ti build... I got into PC's roughly 4-5 years ago I believe 7700k was the most popular CPU best bang for the buck(compared to the higher cores), and especially for gaming /not workstation related... anyways I ended up going with a used 4790k hp prebuild and rx580 /psu eventually upgraded to 1080ti got a new case etc, all in all, I've spent like $600-700 granted everything I got was USED but still its a hell of a system little dated but I can run plenty of games just fine with 100 fps +

CPU, Board and RAM are fine, as well as the drive. For the PSU I would recommend to maybe buy a reputable brand 2nd hand. I did a similar build and bought a be quiet System Power 9 400W PSU for 20 bucks. No adapters needed and I don't have to worry about it failing out of nowhere. You can also buy pc cases for just a few bucks 2nd hand; heck, some people even give them away for free as long as you pick them up.

One thing I find problematic with this build, is that the CPU and board combo only has PCI-e Gen 3, and that dramatically cuts down on the potential performance for the RX6500XT. I think a 11400F would make it run a lot better.

For an extra 5% of the build cost, you could get a half decent case (i.e. Fractal Design Focus G) and an EVGA 80+ Bronze 500W PSU for future upgrades, which you're going to need as the rest of the components will age fast.

Sure the image quality takes a hit, but, it's already taking a hit as is. I think for a system like this, magpie FSR should be considered to try to get the most out of the system since DLSS can't be used.

It's easy to get too carried away with specs, and definitely easy to worry too much about 'future proofing'. The parts in this system work great together. They should probably stay together. Front panel header is in the wrong place on the mobo, but the case could be used for many future systems. However I'd say that a system like this should be used as a gaming rig for as long as possible, then handed over/sold as an entite system to someone else to use for many more years as a home PC for web and office stuff. If that upgrade was in 2024-2026 then the new PC would have ATX12Vo, DDR5, PCIE5or6 for GPU and for NVMe, USB 40Gb/s all the stuff that this PC doesn't need right now, and can't really support with individual component upgrades anyway

Listen I sold my gtx 980 when prices were great, and I then I found out how expensive and hard to get a new GPU was.. so for the past 15 months I haven’t played a single game on my desktop. But imo Nvidia’s GeForce now Service is perfect for my use case, I bought a phone holder that fits to the back of my Xbox controller, so I’m able to use my phone as a sort of early steam deck! With good Ethernet or 5G network, in my experience there’s no problem. I think it’s a good alternative to most people! Another big thing about NGN is that you’re able to play games in full hd with max setting and even raytracing, if you use the “priority” subscription that is. For the past few days I’ve been playing Dying light 2 on NGN and it’s great,smooth and Beautiful, everyone should try it out if you have nothing better to do!

I would recommend going doing a build with either the Ryzen 5 5600G or Ryzen 7 5700G with a good power supply. You get more from your CPU, and it won't hold you back when you finally do get a GPU. The only downside is that AM4 isn't getting any more CPUs, so no real chance at CPU upgrade. Still, though, the Ryzen APUs are pretty good for what they are, and offer more value than building a cheap system around a 6500XT. Just my opinion though, take it for what it's worth.

The only problem is that as bad as the 6500 XT is, it's a crippled 580, which means itps lile a 580. The 5700G is like a 750 Ti on the othrr hand, a 8 year old budget GPU that won't be able to play some intensive modern AAA games at 1080p at all. Of course best advice is to just get a rx 570 though, unless 6500 xt is like around $250 tops but $230 and under preferred

If you look some deals are out there. I bought a gtx 1060 3gb the other day for 200. Looks like today they can be had for a little less than that. If you look I think a 4 gb rx 580 can be had for about 200 or slightly over. Those might be worth considering and would probably be in the same range performance wise as the rx 6500xt. But the 6500xt is new. Also the molex adapter is not a good idea. I’ve been a PC tech for about 13 years and have tinkered with them for over 20. I’ve seen where a molex to sata power connector actually had caught fire and melted the connector on the back of a hard drive. Imagine that happening with one of the molex to pci e power connections. Good bye gpu. In the case above, the case actually had black scorch marks from fire. Obviously there was no recovering data from the hard drive.

Interesting take Kyle. I honestly think this is the new normal now, unless TSMC massively increase fabs there's no way for supply to meet demand now chips are everywhere, it's massively impacted automotive manufacturing for one let alone everything else. This is definitely a compelling option for those who desperately want to game on pc, but does it out perform the series s?

So I'm seeing similar numbers with my Ryzen 5 5600 G, but I am using decent ram at 3200 speed. An APU might be a good alternative? Then again I only play world of Warcraft and a few other indie titles. So I'm not putting too much stress on it

10th gen Intel cpus like the i3-10105 don't support PCIe Gen 4 even with a Gen 4 motherboard. You'd need at least a 11th gen Intel CPU or 3000 series Ryzen.

I'm glad you're outputting a video showing that if you want to build a PC so you actually build one with some instock GPU's if you can't wait anymore within a reasonable price. One different suggestion is a different power supply and case. There are some EVGA 500W power supplies that you can buy for around $35 that will have all the connectors you need. And there are some $30 to $40 cheap cases that will do the job. I don't understand your complaints about Control. Unless something is different within an update I have never been able to tell a difference between low and high settings without dissecting the image and most cases I can't tell it all.

Not a bad build, the power supply use to be the top line back in 2010 as well as the case. But with all our Components change over the years we can appreciate how far our PC components have come.

Kyle could we see this system vs a 5600g system without a dedicated graphics card? I am thinking about upgrading my kid's PC and sometimes see rtx 3070 in a 5600g machine. The 3070 would be mine, but the question becomes do I give them a hand me down 1060 gb or 1050 2gb or stay with the integrated graphics and flip the card.

I have a friend who wants to get into gaming on pc but he doesn't have a big budget to build one with. He almost exclusively plays warzone so I was curious how this would do in warzone? I know warzone isn't optimized well at all, making it a hard game to run. The 16gbs of ram would be one thing I would expect be to low for warzone as everyone I know that has 16gb of ram has stuttering/lag issues and everyone that has 32gb or higher says their pc shows using close to 20gb of ram when playing. I would also be concerned about the low core count on the CPU since warzone tends utilize the CPU pretty heavy. With all that in mind, I have steered him away from builds like this but I would like to know how well it preforms on that game. Maybe it does better then I give it credit or maybe it would be a total flop for Warzone. I wouldn't want to tell a friend hey this would work but then it be unplayable or un-enjoyable for him after he spends what little money he would have to spend on a pc.

CPU's are being offered with discount prices atm, GPU's are becoming more and more instock (although still massively overpriced) my advice, if you have 'anything' that works today no matter how old then wait, things are changing slowly. The more stock fills shelves the more Stores will want to empty them which means prices will start to drop.

I feel this rig might be harder to re-sell down the line (compared to a console) for when the shortage ends. The rig works good for the casual player on a budget just trying to play games. I personally much rather save up for a strong pc that'll give me lots of fun for a couple years, 240fps, 4k, and still return back most of my investment once I'm ready to sell. (just like the iPhone cycle)

How were you getting such a high framerate in Apex? I have a 3080, 10950k, and 32gb DDR4 3000 and can’t get above 100fps on medium. You need to share the settings or something because I know tons of people with monster PCs who struggle to get over 100 and have to play on all the lowest possible settings to make use of the 144hz monitors. Seems off that you were able to get such good performance on higher settings than people with 3090s and the newest CPU.

Mostly because at 1080p, it's cpu dependent, so the gpu won't run so much and you end up with less frames. If you're a competitive gamer, you don't need the top of the line gpu
