Such a pointless set. I get that Diagon Alley is very expensive, but why not just one of the other buildings? I love LEGO, but I wish they would make more different locations instead of the same stuff at different price points

The problem is the price... if you got like 4 of these sets you are getting close to the Diagon Alley set price. With the modular Hogwarts castle you got that too, but then at least you got the difference between mini and micro-scale. In general it's for most people easier to spent 4 years every year like 90 euro's on set then spending like 400 on a single one.

Understand the pros and cons to this set, but hopefully this means the beginning of a collection of individual Diagon Alley builds to gradually for a complete diorama. We already have the D2C Diagon Alley but I’m interested to see if there are options in upcoming sets (including the much-awaited Gringotts Bank) to further build on what is already available….

Slightly off topic, but since the Lego HP line has been going strong for quite a few years now, do people expect/hope for a full on remake of the Lego HP games like what the Skywalker saga had? I think what with all the new Lego pieces used in the new line, and with the success of Skywalker saga, a new complete package covering both 1-4 & 5-7 games would be worth it.

Yeah I really hope there will be a remake of the Lego HP games! :D maybe even including the fantasticbeasts movies (it was already in lego dimentions? which I never had). There have been quite some rumors about it, actually.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the giant Diagon Alley set simply because I don't care for giant expensive sets that are really only for adult fans. So I quite like that they're doing this simpler set version, and I much prefer the interior. All the products really look like a fan has done their research to put them in. It's so much better than the rows of stairs the big DA set had. They even added the punching telescope that hits Hermione at the Burrow in book 6. The post building I think could've been left out, but I guess it makes a display look more fleshed out than a single building so I can't grumble too much.

The designer here: it makes me super happy that you’ve noticed the variety of interior details!! Every item is a named product that shows up in the movie, except the punching telescope from the books

It’s possible that the connection points are just to be switch the owl post from one side to the other. Lego Monkie did the same thing with their first wave, which led some to believe that there would be a continuation of some sort of city. You can connect some sets together in different ways though which is pretty neat.

I have been saving up to get the D2C set. Now I’m not sure what to do. I love the size of the D2C. But the inclusion of the Owl post makes me think that we may get other buildings not included in the D2C. This would lead to a more fleshed out Diagon Alley, perhaps even both sides of the street. I’m holding out for now to see what the next set, if any, includes

Re: Weasly's Puking Pastilles... You say it's out of place not being in the window. However, interestingly enough, a later scene in your video (7:43) with Ron and Lavender shows Ron walking past it INSIDE the store and not in the window. Were there 2 of them maybe (I can't remember)? Or maybe that is a different candy?

I think there are 2 versions: 1. The movie 2. universal studios WWW. In the movie, puking pastilles was facing into the shop by a window (just like what you saw in 7:43), whereas in the universal studios WWW puking pastilles is in the window facing the street.. so I suppose that’s where there’s some confusion.. but nth significant, just aesthetics.. also to answer your last question, there’s only 1 puking pastilles display in WWW from what I remember

It's not so much cannibalising sales as I feel it's LEGO finally realising that an increasingly greater number of people are unwilling to spend hundreds upon hundreds of Euros continuously on D2C sets only. I personally prefer to have it this way: one proper D2C set and a smaller and much cheaper version. Although, in this case, the price is still way too high for how little value it offers compared to the UCS Diagon Alley.

As a fellow Aussie I am totally peeved we’re charged 20% above the US exchange rate for sets. I really hope the new Gringotts is scaled to the larger size as I purchased the large Diagon Alley set … just to get WWW! Thanks for all your efforts Holly.

If they make all the same buildings smaller it will be, at least in Diagon Alley’s case if you could buy the ones you one separately in your own time, why buy the larger one where you have to buy four at once? Both are great in their own way and having sets are varied price points ultimately is good for everyone, but the nature of Diagon Alley would make it too close, and with the current pricing system could very much harm both

I appreciate the new fig-scale Range Rover. I almost exclusively buy sets compatible with minifigures, so it's nice to have a scaled-down version. However, I think that the yellow orange isn't as beautiful as sand green.

Diagon alley no longer has any exclusive pieces. It’s a 400 dollar set. Lego needs to keep some of it’s pieces exclusive.
