O_O Good Charlotte was my fav band in middle school, then Alkaline Trio became and still is my fav. This video blows my mind. 🖤

Saw you playing with GC in Adelaide, South Australia. It was a wonderful suprise and a treasured memory. 🤘

I'm doing Stupid Kid in my cover band, loved your drumming dude! Hope life treats you well in your next venture, your beats influenced my playing for years!

@lancashireliberty7603 That's awesome! How's it sounding? I wish I could take credit for the drums in that song but that's the work of the incredible Mike Felumlee. It was super fun playing his parts over the years. He's done a few Alkaline Trio play-through videos recently that are really awesome if you haven't seen them already. I remember seeing you preform with them live on MTV’s TRL back in the day!!
@DerekGrantMusic7 ай бұрын
@JohnLaszkow My first and only time on legit, daytime MTV. Here's a funny, moderately long-winded story about it: I wanted to look good on television, so earlier that day I went to Trash & Vaudeville to get fashion advice from my buddy Jimmy Webb, he put together an outfit for me and, like an idiot, I didn't bother trying everything on, I just bought the stuff and hoofed it to MTV. I change clothes in the green room and realize the pants are low-rise (which was Jimmy's style) - I look like a plumber when I bend over but I figure it won't matter when I'm behind the drums in the background. Unfortunately the back of the stage was all floor-to-ceiling windows facing Times Square. There were a few hundred teenage Good Charlotte fans outside hoping to catch a glimpse of the band. All they could see was my ass in the window, and I that's all I could think about during the performance!

@@DerekGrantMusicJimmy Webb really loved cramming people into clothing 😂 he tried to convince me to buy pants I had to lay down to button.

@gilewicz Ha! that's Jimmy alright! I've never been big on clothes shopping, but I'd try on just about any crazy outfit he threw at me. He was an amazing person and I miss him dearly.

Didn't realise both Derek Grant and Dean Butterworth toured with GC.
@DerekGrantMusic7 ай бұрын
@RiverBelow93 Dean became their permanent drummer right? I think there were one or two drummers between him and I, on the 2005 US tour they had Damon DeLaPaz filling in, but I guess they thought he wasn't quite ready yet so he did the soundchecks and I played the shows for the first few weeks. To be honest, it was a little weird.

@@DerekGrantMusic *That's Dean was made permanent and played on the fourth album onwards. The circumstances do sound weird, but cool stories to have. *Should have stated fourth, Good Morning Revival
