I am a Retired Marine and have been diagnosed with severe PTSD, mild TBI, Treatment Resistant Depression and Substance Abuse Disorder after serving 2 combat deployments to Iraq and 3 to Afghanistan. I was running late to a VA behavioral health appointment one morning and because i was running late i was in a state of heighten anxiety and stress. Then i saw the lights from a Pennsylvania State Trooper in my rearview mirror making the stress and anxiety even worse. The Trooper sensing i was distraught asked me what was going on i told him my situation and to my surprise he not only did everything he could to help relax me he also called the VA talked to my Psychiatrist and explained to him why i was going to be late. I was absolutely blown away but that wasn't it he also followed me the rest of the way to the VA hospital to make sure i made it there okay and without anymore disruptions. My point is that the majority of cops are really good people.

If it were a Latino or Black male more than likely they would've not been so forgiving. good cops are legit everywhere ! back when i was like 18, some friends and i were skateboarding in middle of the street at like 2-3 am. When you that young you don't really think, we were disturbing the neighbors. Instead of telling us they called the cops right away. Cops got to us and told us "you guys having fun ?" and we said "Yes" and they replied with "can you believe that people calling cops on kids that trying to just have fun" while shaking is head. They told us to keep enjoying our Skateboarding session. Once the cops left we actually got mature about it and instead of being like "these stupid neighbors" we actually went back inside to not piss them off more even if the cops gave us permission to keep Skating !

I live in Britain in a small modern town. I had a doctors appointment that was soon and I didn’t know which bus to get (I was only 12). I was in tears on the phone to my mum because I thought I was gonna miss it but a police car stopped next to me and the officer asked me why I was upset. After I explained she let me into the car and drove me there whilst we were singing songs on the way. Cops are the kindest people you will meet!

My ex was a copper from the roughest part of inner Sydney & not only was he a bad cop as the area is a low income houso town (houso is the same as the projects in the US or council estates in England) & it's mainly an indigenous population that live there & he would tell me the things he'd do to the aboriginal boys & men & it's was appalling & disgustingly racist but he was also extremely abusive mentally & physically at home. He'd beat me nearly every night, threw me down a flight of stairs & fractured my spine, he'd even beat & kick the shit outta me unconscious & I'd come to with him still kicking my face in with steel capped boots in front of his daughters that were 7 & 5 at the time. Leaving him was the scariest moment of my life, not knowing if he'd turn up home outta the blue coz i knew he'd kill me. He even told me he'd kill me & go to jail for the rest of his life & never see his daughters again. After brutal beatings he'd lock me in the house until the bruising & swelling subsided with no mobile or landline, no access to a laptop, nada! My best mate from high school is also a copper down in Sydney's south west & he's extremely arrogant, but he was always extremely arrogant since as long as i remember & i have no idea coz we live & grew up in one of the roughest low income area with lots of houso's in my state of NSW, even Sydney's roughest areas would shit themselves when they find out where u come from. I've also got some copper mates from netball (a Commonwealth sport similar to basketball but completely different if that makes sense lol). I umpire their team every Saturday & they have personalities of wet mops but were never abusive towards umpires & extremely respectful to both the umpires & their opposition & played extremely fairly & apart from having no personalities they are really lovely ladies. So yeah nah mate u get a mixed bag of coppers, more good than bad & Aussie cops have a great reputation with the public. They carry guns but very rarely use them & if they do they shoot to maim not kill. Even prison officers that also carry guns are taught to shoot to maim not kill. When u don't hear anything about our coppers then u know they're doing the right thing.

First time I was ever pulled over, it was because I still had the dealer plates on my car instead of my new ones. I was really young and didn't really know how to switch them. He asked me for my new plates, which I had on my back seat, then went round and switched them out for me, then sent me on my way. He was a good guy, really just wanted to serve the community. I was so grateful he took the time to help me! It probably felt pretty insignificant to him, but to me it meant so much.

As I worked for the federal Police in Germany (Called "Bundespolizei") I also made jokes from Time to time to break the ice bitween cops and civilians. Than we got a new boss and he made trouble when we played with kids at the trainstation or such. Because he made more and more trouble it was the reason for me to leave the Police and join the EMS of the governmental Desaster Controlment Agency. But these guys in that video fully understood what "To Serve and to Protect" means. Well done.

@DGS die Dienstvorschriften lassen leider auch nicht viel Raum für Späße. Grundsätzlich galt dass jeder kleine Scherz auch sehr schnell vor der Dienstaufsicht enden konnte. Was im Mindest Fall deine Chance auf eine vielleicht bald anstehende Beförderung gegen 0 setzt. Dieser Irrsinn und dass ich der Meinung bin, dass gerade ein paar Späße oder nette Worte viele Situationen auch entschärfen können. Das die Vorschriften aber als Bruch der Neutralität ansehen war für mich mit ein Grund was meine Entscheidung zu kündigen erleichtert hatte. Hier im Rettungsdienst und Katastrophenschutz nimmt man mir das z. B. nicht übel wenn ich mal bei nem Einsatz nach ner Schlägerei den Patienten frage, wie der andere aussieht. Oder bei einen "Haushaltsunfall" über diese bösen aggressiven Schranktüren mecker. Um der Patientin zu zeigen dass ich davon kein Wort glaube.

@@Kuriooouuus ich würde es mir wünschen dass Alle Hilfsdienste den Respekt erhalten würden, den sie verdienen. Egal ob sie mit Blaulicht zu Einsätzen rasen, im Pflegeheim oder Krankenhaus sich um Hilfsbedürftige kümmern, Obdachlose mit Decken und Kleidung versorgen, oder bei einer Autopanne helfen oder den Müll abholen. Alle diese Leute verdienen in Meiner Meinung den allerhöchsten Respekt. Leider (das wurde einen Post über deinen mal wieder unter Beweis gestellt. Wird das noch sehr sehr lange Wunschdenken bleiben.

I'm 60,I've always been respectful and very cooperative with law enforcement people,I've never once had a bad outcome,showing respect and a little gratitude for people who agree to risk their life to help make us safe deserves out gratitude not a wise ass attitude that hurts a cop you dont even know well enough to judge!!! Sure bad guys can be in every field but show respect and watch the results!!! Even the worst cop will save your life should events become reality!! I've never had a single bad outcome because I respected the cops and showed my gratitude for the safe life I had from their work!!! Be kind even if it's not deserved it will always result in good outcomes
