Playing this back in the day as a kid like "HA! Imagine a world where people have stuff like their TVs or their household appliances connected to the internets, that's just crazy"

If you think the typos are bad here...hoo boy, just WAIT until you get to BN4. That's easily the worst of the lot. (btw when I was a kid I always thought ProtoMan saying "Load Chaud" was the localization team trying to affect ProtoMan with a British accent, since saying "lord" that way sounds similiar to "load")

I reached the protoman fight, lost and then realized that I actually haven't saved in a while so I stopped playing the game, especially with how tedious the dungeon was. Nowadays there's autosave so we get used to it, so it's hard to get back to saving often. Beside that, nice video for an iconic game series. As a kid I started with Battle Network 2 and had a lot of fun with all the entries after that.

Dunno why, but this comment reminds me of that one Reddit post about a guy who was playing an older generation of Pokémon and was talking about how they were hoping that the autosave didn’t set them too far back at a time when their game crashed, back during a time when Pokémon had zero precedent in including autosaving as a feature. Modern gamers had really been spoiled by the concept of autosaves. Not that it matters anymore, just about everything has an autosave feature nowadays.

The series is amazing and the story gets even better as it goes on. If you can play the series without burnout, everything ends up extremely Satisfying! Fair warning though, When you eventually play the numbered Entries (Not counting 3 However if you play it please play Blue Version for reasons you'll learn when researching) The stories change Slightly depending on the version you pick. From what I've seen, the first order is Red sun, team Colonel, and finally Gregar.

@@Maccathe release of the third game was kinda weird. Basically it first came out in Japan as just "Mega man battle network 3" then later got an updated rerelease with new stuff called "mega man battle network 3 Black version" Then when bringing them to America they released both the original and special updated version as separate versions in America, with White version being the original and Blue being the equivalent of the Japanese "Black version" special updated rerelease. So Blue is probably better for 3 as it has an extra boss and stuff

Battle Network was one of my main game series since it released when I was in 8th grade. BN2 is why they put the (personally unnecessary) disclaimer, but it also started making the main Internet much easier to navigate. I fondly remember scouring the fandom and Gamefaq for codes and program advances, decided which version to buy based on chip and form differences, etc. It also features places like the Deep net, Dark Net, and the undernet, All of which are mostly predated use of such term for the more dangerous parts of the web and without the much more morbid realities of such places. I also have the complete western manga series the debuted when I got my first job working at Cold Stone when I was 16, and I still have old art of an OC Navi Glitch Man.exe I made for an overseas contest, but I couldn't get it translated into Japanese unfortunately, but the contest was a big buz in the Megaman fandom because it was the first game since mm6 that was actually accepting outside entries if they were translated as previously mentioned. Honestly, I wish they would make a new entry or even continue the sequel Star Force some how. Also, aren't chip data a form of NFT you can copy to blank chips?

Load Macca. I’d love a series of reviews with all the Battle Network games. But I must know if you find the dungeon backgrounds to be as hypnotically mesmerizing as I did.

Funny thing, Both Megaman Timelines/series of games were heavily inspired by literature The main timeline is hugely influenced by Isaac Asimov, not just in how he created the rules of robotics but even in how the plot of the timeline is structured over a vast span of time the same way the main megaman timeline is Meanwhile the Battle Network timeline is seemingly heavily inspired by the book Neuromancer, basically the first work of Cyberpunk fiction, the main difference being that it's written from the point of view of a happy go lucky rich kid/shonen protagonist instead of being a dark, gritty noir or whatever
@alpsi285
@alpsi285 8 ай бұрын
Is this confirmed? Tezuka never read those books while creating mega man and back then foreign literature wasn't easily accessible. It just seems like you're connecting two similar things and making a false claim
@baddragonite
@baddragonite 8 ай бұрын
@@alpsi285 I don't think it's a stretch even if it isn't directly confirmed, though if I ever see any interviews I'll definitely post it. The main timeline directly references Asimov multiple times so literary references aren't new to the series, and Neuromancer, a book based on Japan, was literally the progenitor of the "cyber space" trope in Sci Fi, and just like Battle Network, the users "Jack in" (Yes it uses the same phrasing) to the version of the network in Neuromancer, called The Matrix (because internet wasn't a common term back when the book was written). So even if it didn't directly influence MMBN, MMBN definitely used the tropes Neuromancer invented. That said it uses a lot of the same terminology, and Neuromancer was the creation that led to the "futuristic Japan" aesthetic prominent in a lot of media in and after the 80s so it wouldn't surprise me at all. The creators of the MegaMan games are huge nerds.

@@baddragonite yeah but that's like saying hunger games ripped off battle royale when in interviews she said she never knew it existed. Mega man has been stated to have been inspired by astro boy but that's it. Other than that it's just speculation. In fact Tezuka has referenced Disney actually as an inspiration for mega man. I think at most you could argue an indirect inspiration but definitely not directly inspired

From what I can say, and from what I know, Battle Network 3 is reputed to have the best story, 6 to have the best gameplay, 5 to be more-or-less unique, and 4 requiring three playthroughs in order to 100% the game. So, there's plenty to look forward to, with them. And the infamous typos in Battle Network 4. And the Boktai crossovers.

The consensus with BN is that BN 3 5 and 6 are the Goats of the franchise. To me BN 5 and 3 stand supreme. 6 is good mostly for PVP but is kind of...eh compare to 3 and 5.

And Tadashi basically translates to Right. Playing with the lack of distinction between L and R in Japanese, his name is basically Dr. Right Light. There is no canon answer to the argument

If you liked this game/the series, I'd strongly recommend One Step From Eden. It's a roguelike that plays like Megaman Battle Network. It's even faster paced than the OG series, there's 8 characters with 2 kits each, a banger ost, and tons of spells and artifacts (basically, passives) to play with, on top of having mod support It's a fantastic spiritual sequel to the Megaman Battle Network series, and I'd strongly recommend it to any fan of the series
