I did a bit of research and found out the author used to be a "Bosozoku", basically young biker gang delinquents usually around the age 16-20 and the Tokyo Manji Gang's logo is inspired by the gang he was actually in at the time called the "Black Emperors" which you'll see in future episodes. They arent the yakuza but it can be a gateway to the yakuza when they reach their 20s. Bosozoku was popular around the 80s-90s but died down in the 2000s.
