I vaguely remember playing G-Force licensed game as a kid. It's a surprisingly decent third person shooter slash platformer with creative levels and INCREDIBLY goofy premise.

King Kong still stands strong as a game set around the 20's-30's, there's not a lot of those. All the post-game content like the museum and the filters really conveyed to me the sense of vintage I would later find so appealing in Bioshock.

King Kong Lives: Megaton Punch on the NES is actually a good King Kong game by Konami. Its a based (loosely) on the 1986 King Kong Lives movie.

The King Kong game tried many new things and alot worked. Some including not having a hud so you needed to manually check ammo and being able to find exchange and utilize many weapons gathered from allies and surroundings. With the human parts being genuinely tense at times.

Call me crazy but am I the only one who didn't find Isolation scary? It's definitely an extremely good game and definitely made up for my childhood savings spent on Colonial Marines. But it kinda just seemed like 60 percent of the game is just sitting under objects and hopefully not leaving cover too soon.

Elite force actually had a great premise -voyager gets snagged by an artificial reef full of other dead ships and you go from wreck to wreck salvaging stuff trying to figure out what's gathering these vessels in its web. That and you can bunny hop.

OMG! The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road is such a great game. A friend gave it to me for Christmas years ago because he knew I loved Wild Arms and thought I would enjoy another game they made.

An alright licensed game has to be "Transformers: The Game" on PS2. I wouldn't say it's because of the story (I never go far), but it's because of one thing that I never get bored of: the surprisingly massive open-world on the Autobots' side, lol.

I remember the first two Transformer DS games based on the movies being something. The story was fully voiced and I remember getting invested more into the characters than the actual movies. Plus, you got to make your own Decepticon and Autobot depending on what copy of the game you got. You even fight alternate you on the first level, its great.

The Goonies Famicom game touched and inspired me as a kid. It made feel like I was going on an adventure as I played thru the levels, imagining myself as the playable character. I hadn't yet and still have not watched the movie version of The Goonies. The game is that sacred that the movie might spoil the memories for me.

I remember having Quackshot in one of those 4 in 1 pirate cartridges for my Genesis. I found it really challenging when I was a kid because I didn't know any english and couldn't really follow on what to do but a couple of years ago I went and re-played it again in an emulator and, man, what a wonderful game and what a wonderful OST.

I love that the King Kong game is a canon alternate version of the movie. Characters die in different ways, the introduction and interactions with the natives are different etc.

No mention of the GOAT of licensed videogames. The Warriors. Developed by Rockstar for the PS2 and Xbox, and based on the 1979 film of the same name. It's a 3D brawler with graffiti mechanics and superbly awesome multiplayer.

The Harry Potter RPGs for GBC are fantastic as well, they are really underrated compared to the 3d games, they can be quite too linear though but they way the handle the plot with bringing the stuff from the books not used in the movies was nice as well, Sadly the only cover the first three movies before they went for more action oriented games.

I've always had a soft spot for The Mask on Snes (based on the Jim Carrey movie) Graphically it's really well done, and it's just fun spinning around the levels beating up thugs. and since you mentioned Mickey Mouse, the game Mickey Mania is one of my favorites, so much fun playing through levels based on Mickey's most popular cartoon shorts.

My personal fave licenced game will always be LOTR: Return of the King. Actors lending their talent, an actual explanation of events from Gandalf' perspective, and a solid beat-em-up system. Good stuff.

Whoa I’ve never seen ANYONE talk about or even acknowledge zoids assault before. An early Xbox 360 exclusive top down Grid based RTS. And even though it was only briefly shown in the intro, That is like the most coverage it has ever gotten.. for anyone reading this, no it’s not very good. It’s incredibly difficult in the late levels and took me 50+ hours to 100%.

I was lucky to have played some fantastic licensed games as a kid (and some stinkers as well, of course). Some of my favorite lesser known ones are Toy Story 2 (PS1/N64), Disney's Atlantis and Disney's Treasure Planet (PS1), the PS1 Spider-Man games, the PC version of Harry Potter 2, Star Wars Episode 3 on PS2 (wanna shout out Republic Commando as well even though it's not that obscure)... heck, I even liked the A Bug's Life game on PS1 even though it's kinda rough around the edges.

U.N. Squadron by Capcom is a great license game and even manages to add in elements from the manga it's based on, Area 88. I just wonder why they changed the name when it was localized.
