She reminds me of my senior English teacher. She knew I was pregnant and poor and single before anyone else. She made sure I had maternity clothes, including a winter maternity coat. She took me to all doctor’s appointments. She made sure I had vitamins and good food. When my baby boy came, she was there with all I needed, as well as no hospital or doctor bill. She got me a job and my boy a place in a pre-school so we would be together. To make this shorter, she taught my boy Sophomore English when he was sixteen! At parent teacher conference, she bluntly made sure his stepfather loved him, adopted him, and loved us both. He does! I still cry now that she has passed.

Such a wonderful movie and message. As much as she loved all the children I still think she was unhappy with the way her life turned out. Having given up true love just so her Fathers name was not thought of badly was a sacrifice that came with a huge price. I will assume she paid back the $11.500 plus so much more. I always find these old movies far better than what we see today! Thank you for sharing the gentile gem.

@@sirijensen9839 I agree. I just would not want to live my life vicariously through others. She just seemed lonely and sad for what might have been.
@missirina6912Ай бұрын
Having not a partner in your life, it doesn't mean you are lonely and sad !!! Nuns in monasteries are neither lonely nor sad !!! There are just seldom moments you feel like, but those are rare and you can handle them firmly and quickly, sending those feelings back to Satan from where they are coming (exactly like you do with the jealousy, just the same - the old Serpent, SATANA !!!). Miss Dove, in this movie, is the perfect role model for any of us; the way we should do live our life, in view all of us to have a good life. This role (her job + morality) portraits very well the impact each of our life has towards the others ! We are living together, intertwined, whatever we like it or not , or we don't want, we live into towns and families, and we need each other. A life is NOTHING without the other... LIVING is GIVING. 🤗🥰💖😇💕

I loved this film, I was taken back to my school days. I had a teacher like Miss Dove her name was Miss Dixon, she was tweed, brogues and twinsets, firm but fair. Its a great joy toappreciate one of few secular movies which appreciate people who supported jews learning in special circumstances and in Jews education when whole world thought that they can not fit in any clas. The use of a visit to a Jewish home to take a Jewish meal is in deed an honour. The movie potrays an ordinally jewish boy who overcame many odds to become a celebrity. Mis dove is one person give to serve all pupils from all walk of life. Kudos

There was a teacher in my area. Very strict no nonsense - but she prayed every day for all her pupils. Many gave their lives to Christ. After she'd retired, when going to church, a voice spoke to her. You're going to meet the man you will marry. They met. 3 months later they married. He'd had the same leading of God that morning as well.

At least now we don't smell. Back when, people didnt use deo as much, had fewer showers & those clothes wouldn't wash - you'd brush out the blazer & skirt/trousers, and only wash shirts & underwear. Also, there was no aircon compare to today - so folks sweated in summer. I also love the fashion of the past, especially the sixties, but if we are honest, travelling on a full train today is probably much nicer, even when wear are all wearing track suits all day.. ;)

She too would make each student; girls curtsy and boy's bow upon entering her classroom. I don't ever remember the uh sitting on a stool chair or soap wash out. But I do remember the wooden ruler to the back of your hand or a snap of it to the back of your head even. Somehow, I managed to pass though. Probably because I laid low, ahh! free at last, only to get her again in the 11th grade...lol

@@robinmead5826 how fortunate for you that you’ve never had to hear it. Unfortunately I’ve heard it a few times, at church and elsewhere, usually directed as a dig at women who were assumed to be childless by choice. These comments are especially cruel when the woman in question simply couldn’t. Politicians have said it - I don’t think the clips of national news programs were altered without anyone realizing it. But this movie isn’t about that. It’s about the impact a single person can have on future generations, even without the ties of blood.
