As an Irish person I desperately need to hear Oli's Irish accent. There aren't many non Irish people that can do it without sounding like a leprechaun 💚

Yes same! Also, Daisy Edgar-Jones does the best Irish accent I have ever heard a non-Irish actor do! :)

I'm not an actor but I first learned how to do a CV when I was in year 10 at school, I used that layout when I went out into the world looking for a job. Got told that's not what a CV should look like and so changed it to what they said, I've had this happen with 5 different CV layouts. No matter what it looks like I always get told "this isn't what it should look like"
@theonlyenekoeneko4 жыл бұрын
At this point, you gotta tell them: no, actually, this is a CV, you’re looking at it now.
@marthabjo4 жыл бұрын
I would ask them (respectfully) whether it really matters if it doesn't look exactly how they want it, as long as it tells them what they need to know to decide if you're right for the job. The answer is probably no.

Yes I've been told by several people how to do a cv and every time I go for help on interview prep or job hunting help everyone has a different opinion on the layout

Not an actor either, and maybe it's different in the UK, but in the US I have never gotten direct feedback on resume layout from any recruiter or hiring manager. No one has ever cared what it looks like, as long as the resume is clear, proofed, detailed and accurate. If they did care I just never knew because they didn't call lol, but it has never taken long to find a job(...knock on wood)

I never got taught how to do a CV, not at high school or sixth form so I ended up getting my neighbour to teach me how to write a CV using a template from a friend sister and a cover letter. I got an apprenticeship using that CV so it can't be all that terrible.

Teeth problems are definitely affected by genetics. Me and my brother always tried our best to have great dental hygiene, specially knowing all the problem our mom had, but still have gotten root canal treatment, and a thousand other things. Meanwhile my dad and my other brother go happily not having a single issue despite having considerably less controls.

I am never going to do a acting CV but found this super interesting. My normal CV I was struggling with my job hunting so my library manager (I was volunteering while waiting to see if a job came up) looked over my CV. The minute I handed it to her she sighed and said "ah". Turns out schools use 1 template so I was turning up to jobs and everyone knew I had done it at school. But thankfully it now looks way better and I landed 2 jobs with the new version 😂😂

I feel for you with the teeth issue. I have constant problems as well. Don't think it's hereditary, though, cause I have so much more problems than my family. I have the same issue with dentist trips as well, though. Every check-up there's some problem (more this last time as it was postponed due to the lockdown).

It seems funny to me that casting directors make their decision based on your face and a load of writing, when really your voice, acting ability etc. is the most important. Something like mini video clips would give them a better feel for you, surely? Also Ollie you have to do a diablo video now. I found mine in the garage the other day but I was never that good, I can just about catch it!

I’ve had a bottom tooth removed and honestly it felt like the dentist had his foot up on the chair and was yanking away. It was awful! Then of course I got dry socket and an infection. Couldn’t go to work for 10 days and lost nearly a stone in weight (the only good thing!) as I could only eat omelettes. That was 8 years ago and I still can’t stomach omelettes!

I'd love for you to do an accent video where like you each do an accent and have to guess what it is or something like that, just because I'd be really interested in hearing your attempts at accents. I hate having teeth taken out. I had to have two baby teeth taken out because my big teeth were trying to come through but my baby teeth were stuck and refused to fall out so I had to have those taken out to let my adult teeth come through. The dentist missed a bit of it as well so I ended up with half a tooth stuck in my gum for like six months until I went back and he realised. Then I had to have four teeth taken out for my braces and it was the worst. It didn't hurt because obviously they numbed it but because they had to pull so hard to get it out because they're not meant to come out, I was gripping so hard on to the chair because I was literally sliding up the chair because of the force they were using to pull the bottom two teeth out.

Weird question: Does the NHS cover dental? I’m American and doing to the dentist here is insanely expensive unless your health insurance covers dental, which is kinda rare
@accountforwastingtime4 жыл бұрын
if it makes you feel any better none of my US health plans have covered dental well either :( I've had better luck doing cleanings at dental schools or doing pay plans directly with dentists.
@Lioness99a4 жыл бұрын
There are NHS dentists and non-NHS dentists in the UK. For non-NHS ones, you have to pay for everything, and with NHS denstists you pay a small amount towards the cost. I am with a non-NHS dentist, but from a quick Google, looks like it's about £22 for a checkup or basic care, up to around £270 for things like crowns and veneers
@jennyupabove4 жыл бұрын
Sort of. You can be an NHS patient but it means that things are cheaper or more affordable. So check ups are £20 rather than £90-£100 and procedures such as fillings come with price point options so are affordable for a wider range of people. I think it's free if you claim government benefits but I don't really know the ins and outs of that.

I always wonder if people can do a Canadian accent without using the fictitious 'eh'. (this is a trick question because our accents are regional). i LOOOOOVED improv at school drama class. I'm not an actor so it doesn't matter, but, improv would be best for me because I now have a horrible memory.

I am awful at accents. I've had to do RP a few times, so it's the one I'm most comfortable with, but I'm sure Carrie would feel the same way about my RP as I feel about her American - like it's alright, but not quiiiiite there.
