Awesome content Kemi! Rent to Own is definitely a way into Canada real estate but its really not for everyone. So the "rent " you will be paying the landlord is usually much higher than market rents ( although it includes a contribution towards your downpayment), also at the end of the term , you still need to apply and qualify for a that mortgage. This is where a lot of people get into trouble. Also, in most of the contracts , the price you will buy that house form the landlord is usually stated upfront in the contract. So if after 2 years, house prices are lower, you will be stuck with paying the higher price you committed to. All these to say ...make sure you seek advice from / work with a qualified real estate professional before signing any dotted lines. Very important.
