I wash each neck bone separately, you have to remove the spinal column ( some pieces do have this), cut off loose, sharp bones, rinse off bone shavings, each piece needs careful attention.
@mamaj710420 күн бұрын
Yes. I do remember my mom cooking them years ago & she said that they had splinters of bones in them, & you don't want that.

I wash meats but some folks don’t, that’s on them..I don’t want none

I know that's right, me neither! 😆
@mamaj710420 күн бұрын
I can not for the life of me, understand people who don't wash meat. Do they not know where it comes from? Years ago, a Food Network cook said not to wash your chicken because it spreads bacteria & all the germs would be killed in cooking it. I almost threw up in my mouth.

Can you can the finish product
@spoonnwithsunshinehomestead Жыл бұрын
That's a great question but I'm not sure about that. I don't think there's an FDA approved canning recipe for this one but I have separated it and frozen it before and it did well. However, it never lasts very long at my house 😆

What about potatoes
@spoonnwithsunshinehomestead Жыл бұрын
The soup mix that I use has potatoes in it but sometimes I use real potatoes if I want bigger pieces. I just put them in when it's just about finished. Try it and let me know what you think
