It did piss off some people. There was a demand that Netflix cancel the show, not realizing that 1. It was a miniseries, so no new episodes were to be made and 2. It was made by Amazon Prime. Netflix jokingly did promise that it would not make any new episodes.

@@Carabas72 social media I get as anyone (supposedly) can use it which is fair, but the mainstream media is just pandering to groups like them telling people how to have an opinion instead of just telling facts and letting people come up with they're own opinion which is bs. Side note I know it not all of mainstream media doing this but a lot of them are, probably because this is dieing and the sad part is that they're rating would probably go up if they just stuck with the truth/facts.

Micheal Sheen's "straight" man XD XD Also, Crowley is trying really hard to be cool but is really way more of a cinnamon bun inside (like, his version of evil is glueing coins to the street). Aziraphale is much more of a bastard, even if he hides it well. Growing up in the seat of power gives the antichrist more sway. Makes his job much easier. Arthur Young didn't think Crowley was another dad, he thought he was a doctor here to help with Deirdre giving birth. Yes, the name gives form, he isn't called throat ripper he won't rip throats, he's called dog, so now he'll just... be a dog.

this was adapted from a book which was published in the eighties, it caused a ruckus then and it caused a ruckus now. this wasnt the first or last time the authors, terry pratchett and neil gaiman, commented on religion. if you want works similar, neil gaimans american gods, or terry pratchetts small gods or hogfather are all well worth a read (my personal favourite is hogfather!) sir terry pratchett died a little while ago, and neil gaiman promised him hed overlook any adaptation of the novel. so neil gaiman wrote the screenplay and was very involved, the whole series is kind of dedicated to terry pratchett

This is mostly based on the movie "The Omen" which has evil nuns, the antichrist, an American ambassador to the UK, a devil dog etc etc. This is more about "What if the plan in the Omen went wrong?" - Complete with Terry Pratchetts humour and Neil Gaimens crazy ideas. Pratchetts comedy is mostly in the footnotes which is done in this adaptation by the narrator. It is a VERY good and complete book adaptation but there are a few differences and the ending is different to allow for a 2nd series.

The rest of the show is based a lot on the much less known outside the UK "Just William" books. Also, there will be a second season over Neil Gaiman's dead body, and even that will require a lot of creativity with his will.

Sheen is so flexible as an actor. If you didn't know it can come as a surprise that he was the head werewolf in Underworld and owned the nightclub in the Tron remake.

DT and MS are brilliant together! It was both Crowley's and Sister Mary Loquacious's fault! This is a combination parody of The Omen, in which the anti-Christ was raised by a the US Ambassador to Britain and is guarded by a very scary rottweiler, and the Just William books. The music is wonderful! Episode 3 has been named as one of the best tv episodes of the year.

This (and the book it was based on) is a parody of 1976’s The Omen. That’s where the evil nuns come from... and every other plot element like the Antichrist being switched, skipping to 11th birthday, coming into power. It all comes from that movie but cranked up to absurdity

Something that surprised me about Tennant is how he loves to do his own stunts (whenever possible) which he does in this series as well as Doctor Who. I won't go into detail about what he does in Good Omens as you are still watching it but in DW, he did a bunch. His Regeneration scene, for instance where the whole Tardis is on fire and things are raining down off the ceiling it was really him standing on a small piece of tape and told DO NOT MOVE as the crew reluctantly gave in to him. In Planet of the Ood where he is running from a crane above him he was doing some great barrel rolls, falling over some barrels (yes, two separate things lol) and careening off of walls instead of merely running around the corner as planned. I remember watching Gridlock and watching him fall out of one 'car' down to another and thinking that 'wow, they made that look really high' when they really WERE very far apart from each other and it was actually him doing the falling. Oh so many! Even down to how he gets ready for a scene is by doing jumping jacks or running in place right before the director says 'action' He even got Freema and Billie and John Barrowman to start doing it too. He is just a very physical actor.

Very few people seem familiar with The Omen. I’ve watched a few reaction videos and no one makes the connection. But yeah, the whole book was a satire of The Omen, so a lot of the stuff that you picked up on as referencing was referencing that movie.

If you like this, I highly recommend the book it's based on, 'Good Omens', written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. The audiobook is extra delicious (read by Stephen Briggs). As a fan of the book, I have a few issues with the television adaptation - but Terry's works are nearly impossible to put on screen. His writing works best on the screen of our imagination. All-in-all, they gave it a good shot at bringing this beloved book to screen.

13:14 That's the first time i hear THAT about Aziraphale 🤣 The mix up was kinda nobody's fault (or maybe God's *wink*), according to God's narration when Crowley arrives at the hospital. Quote: "Most of the great triumphs and tragedies in history are caused, not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally bad, but by people being fundamentally people" Possible spoiler: It is important to remember that angles and demons do not have the same free will as humans do. Humans has rubbed of on Crowley and Aziraphale a bit. But essentially if they get a direct order it is hard for them to disobey (at least for now). However because of their long time on earth they have learned to find short cuts and ways to work around the orders. Like Crowley had to deliver the baby. He had to influence the anti Christ and so on. But he could ask Aziraphale to counter him. PS: As always when I find a "new" reactor I like I have to go through your Doctor Who reactions. Well guess that settles what I am going to do for the new year holidays. So Good Omens got you a new Subscriber

Believe it or not one thing I DID want to mention is that as you watch Good Omens check out all the Doctor Who Easter Eggs because there are a ton of them. One of my favorites is the license plate on Crowley's Bentley. It is "SID RAT" which of course spells TARDIS backwards ;-)

Yeah, the one father didn't really need to wait outside. He would have been just as much out of the way in his wife's birthing room. I think it was a bit Mary Loquacious's fault because they said Room 4 in the big evil nun meeting, so she should have checked when Crowley thought it was Room 3.
