Good SNES Music: Rudra no Hihou ルドラの秘宝 (Treasure of the Rudras) [Complete Soundtrack]

Treasure of the Rudras was an innovative RPG a little different from the usual Squaresoft fare that came out late in the life of the Super Famicom. For example, the game uses a magic system used by actually spelling out the letters used for the name of each spell. An English fan translation that finally enabled players to use this system was released by ??? in 2006. The game was finally released on the Japanese Virtual Console in 2011.
The relatively unknown Ryuji Sasai composes an awesome soundtrack for this underrated game. Many of the standard RPG soundtrack ideas are here, but in a musical style different from Uematsu or one of the usual composers. The music measures well over an hour when looped once, and there are a lot of varying genres of music represented. You'll notice that each character (Sion, Surlent, Riza, and Dune) each has their own day and night overworld theme, as well as a battle theme, that uses the same melody arranged in different ways. Without a doubt, this is one of the best soundtracks for the Super Famicom.
Some of sasai's work might be familiar to Western gamers, as he has also composed the soundtrack for Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, FF Legend III, and Bushido Blade 2 while working for Square.

Yupe,　ルドラの秘宝 has one of the best soundtrack on the SFC, too bad almost no one played it. It also has the best god damn box art I've ever seen (Seriously, look at that and try telling me this isn't awesome as hell). Plus the game can be broken really easily (OH HEY I CAN ENTER WORD FOR MAGIC, LET'S ENTER THE TITLE AND SEE WHAT I DOES HUR HUR HUR). My favorite tracks are Underwater City, Crime of the heart, Creature from the Silent Sea, The Spirit Chaser and The Flames and the Arrow. Battle for the field is also a great battle tracks.

I may have never heard of this game, and it might be very obscure, but it feels like SO many things were inspired by this. from Sword art online to Runescape to Castlevania to Mass effect. Track 19 is very similar to "A Tender Feeling" from SAO, 32 sounds like a lot of the Castlevania games, track 4 sounds like half the Mass effect soundtrack, whereas you can tell it took inspriation from other things, (FF6, Zelda, track 50 has Mario 3 airship vibes)

The game is very obscure since it was never released outside of japan. I would argue it is on par with FF6 and Chrono trigger for reference so you should definitely give it a playthrough.

This game has the most beautiful soundtrack I have ever heard. How every character has his theme, and how it remains a constant throughout tense, sad and happy moments of the game, it's a work of art in game music. Surlent, Riza, Sion and Dune each have beautiful themes, their world map, boss battles, and sad moment songs all portray these themes in particular ways. Most likely my favorite RPG of all times.

Since you're a fan of RPGs and their music, you might want to give the Ys Book I & II and Ys IV: The Dawn Of Ys on PC Engine CD-ROM² and Super CD-ROM² soundtracks a listen. The games aren't half bad either. Also take a listen to The Legend of Xanadu & The Legend of Xanadu II for the same system.

I think the most epic music throughout this game would be the last boss, which is spilt in 3 forms and evolves through the fight, the last part reunites all heroes themes which is brilliant, I still get goosebumps from this soundtrack.

Playing through this game currently. I'm almost done with Sion's story, and the music is amazing. I can't wait to hear the different overworld and battle themes for the other characters as well.
