Absolutely brilliant film, at the end, weirdly I was missing Connie when we see Nick again and that shows the charisma and gravitas that Pattinson brought to the film. By far the best lead performance I have seen this year

saw this today, loved it. Its intense from the first minute until the last. Well, except the last 5 minutes which are kinda heart breaking, one woman was literally bawling her eyes out. RP is great in this, took me 10 minutes to actually realise it was him.

This was one of my most anticipated films for the rest of 2017 as soon as I heard the pretty much universal praise from critics who saw it in America It sounds really good. Why it only appears to be on VOD for the first week of release I have no idea. Luckily my local arthouse cinema has it in a few weeks time.

Pattinson has always been a great actor but Benny Safdie stole the show here. The problem I had with this film is that all the scenes with Nick (Benny Safdie) are excellent and I spent most of the film waiting for his character to come back into the movie.

I just watched this film and came here expecting Kermode to make the same observation. The glimpses of the relationship between the brothers were easily the best parts of this otherwise good (but not great) film. Pattison was indeed brilliant though.

All the best films I've seen this year have been very distinctive.....Good Time is definitely one of them....RP is fantastic, the pace is good.....only minor quibble would be that it slows down slightly too much in the middle.....but it's only minor because it's not long, alienating or indulgent. Oddly, rather than the feeling of intensity, the primary feeling I got was sadness - not just the ending but the entire story felt sad to me - can imagine a different director turning it into a complete farce but this felt grounded It's not for everyone but it's a really well made film.....It feels like a film made by film-makers :)

Was incredibly stylish and entertaining, but quickly loses sight of character development in favour of upping the ante with elaborate, albeit incredibly entertaining, set-pieces. Maybe if the first half of the movie had followed them on the run from the police for an extra 20 minutes or so and developed the sibling relationship a bit better, it could have gotten away with some of the sillier type scenes. Still would give it a 7/10 though.

Pretty good review. Love the show. Sometimes if I am in doubt if I want to see a movie or not I check out the Kermode review of the movie. With this movie though I knew I wanted to watch it and I did not watch, hear or read anything about the movie and I have to say revealing, in the resume of the plot, that Connie kidnaps the wrong inmate and describing that the movie will take time during one night, is what I will consider a plot spoiler. I worry about not being spoiled before a movie, 80 % of all trailers spoil too much but sometimes dedicating 2 hours to something, it can be quiet important knowing what kind of tone you are about to sit through. That being said I love the reviews. Be wary of spoiler talk. Cheers Chris Kamper

In my opinion, I thought this Film was a mess. The acting was great but it seemed like every other element (cinematography, lighting, writing, etc.) was sloppy & disjointed. As the film would take me from one scene to the next I would wonder “why are we at this place? Why do these characters get caught up in so many situations that take us away from Connie’s central objective?”. I was hoping for something special but I suppose I either missed the point or it just wasn’t for me. Just my thoughts, I’m still looking for to the Safdie’s Next Flick Uncut Gems, it looks like they’ve honed in on the nuances and tightened up the Story for that one
@xaviercockerton6989
@xaviercockerton6989 4 жыл бұрын
The film clearly explains why they are where they are. The whole point is that the situation spirals out of control due to Connie’s desperation, so that more problems are created rather than solved. That’s the idea of the film. Think this criticism is unfounded.
@jasminexc783
@jasminexc783 4 жыл бұрын
that was the point? yea it was kind of sporadic, but only because he was reacting to his surroundings, unthinking of the consequences rather than thinking of the whole scheme of things. and i think that's what makes it real. connie isn't some criminal mastermind. he's just the same type of criminal who cycles in and out of jail due to recklessness.
@kylehammitt566
@kylehammitt566 4 жыл бұрын
@@jasminexc783 I felt that while i was watching but maybe it was just me but the story it hought that was developing in the first 30 minutes completely turned and imo it just didn't feel coherent, although i get that can add to the immersion of the film so i might just be in the minority on this one

Art vandaley Yeah I thought the house section dragged way too much, and the rest of the film never recovered. Also, I found every single character not just unlikable (which is usually fine) but so completely unpleasant I couldn't engage with anything they were doing.

I agree. I thought the twist was quite funny at first, but then that character (the drug addict guy), he really de-evolved the film for that point on, the script between them was run of the mill gangster talk, and the stuff they got upto, reminded me of another bland stoner movie. The film had a lot more substance going for it up until that.
