You can tell the movie’s good when Kermode is rushing around other reference points like a kid trying to clean up a mess before mum comes home.

There were parts of this that reminded me a lot of Nic Roeg's earlier films - the disorientating, trippy style, particularly Man Who Fell to Earth and Eureka - it was like Nic Roeg meets John Cassavetes on amphatamines

Top 2 films of all Time 'Good Time' & 'Uncut gems' stand out performances go to the 2 non actors in both films Buddy Duress and Keith Williams

Keith Williams Richard is not even close to a stand out in Uncut Gems. In terms of non actors Kevin Garnett takes that spot easily.

Evan Irwin I wouldn’t say Keith gave the best performance in the movie but he was really great. He was incredibly menacing and I never would’ve guessed he was a first time actor

This and Good Time were two excellent, very involving films. I'd put them on a par. Btw no one seems to have mentioned the prologue, and the hint at the otherworldy powers at play. Obviously inspired by The Exorcist when it starts in Iraq. The rest of the film doesn't need it but it was a nice touch.

Wow Mark what a great review. Very interesting. Really enjoyed the film as well. Adam Sandler's character reminds me of a lot of people I knew growing up in so much as they bounce from one disaster to another-they always hold out for a win and believed that around the corner was the solution to their woes. Anyway great 5/5

I've never been an Adam Sandler fan, but this film was recommended to me by my son, and since he knows good films when he sees them I gave it a chance. It's an amazing film! Sandler is incredible in the role, just reeling from one bad decision to the next, you just want him to slow down and get his life in order and it doesn't happen. I agree with Mark Kermode, he should have been nominated for an Oscar, he deserved it. See the film!!!!!
