He had a job and he was helping with the bills until he recovered from his injury. James would have been fine with it. Meaning this was the last new episode to air. Excluding the ABC live remake version. It was recorded in February 22nd of 1979 nearly a year before airing. Production wise, this was the next to last episode recorded. The finale was recorded on March 1st of 1979.
