I got this a couple of weeks ago, and I love it. I'm no professional touring rock star, so I don't need it to do more than it does. It does all I want it to and then some. You could spend over $450 on 3 or 4 good stand alone pedals. Well worth it, and not too hard to get into.

This is a little long but if you're on the fence about modeling this could be a worthwhile read. I bought one of these for late night practicing through headphones and the occasional fly gig/jam. It sounds so good to me that it has become my main rig, but there’s an important catch- I bypass the cab sims and put it straight into the fx loop return of my Bad Cat Cub 15R because, let’s face it, FRFR systems cannot recreate the “amp in a room” sound. Although I’m not about to part with my Eventide H9, the effects on board are good to excellent. I’m still pretty floored by how uniformly great this setup sounds. Just so you don’t think I’m some easily impressed noob, I’ve been playing since the early 80’s and own or have owned great amps by the likes of Mesa (at least 6), Carr, Friedman, Budda, Fender CS, Orange, Rivera, Revv, and so-on. I’ve had my favorites from these brands and I can really say that the Pod Go into my Bad Cat’s fx loop return puts as big a smile on my face as any of the above amps. Maybe I just got lucky and the Bad Cat just happens to “like” the Pod Go and it’s a great combination just by chance? Eventually I’ll pull out other amps to find out. I also think it’s important to mention that in my experience it doesn’t sound good into the front of an amp which makes sense given that you’re putting a modeled preamp into a real preamp in this scenario. Modeling has really come of age IMHO. If you’re tired of lugging a big rig around and you’re intrigued by modeling but don’t like the FRFR experience you should consider this kind of setup. You may be very surprised. Oh yeah, the day after I bought this I got an email from Fractal as I'd been on their waiting list for the past 6 months for a FM3. With all the confidence that I was making the right choice and zero regret to date, I told them I was going to pass. YMMV

really digging what Line6 is doing right now. Although I think they should have called it the POD GO HX, it really doesn't matter, because once you know its HX modelling and you see the price of the unit its hard not to say 'wow, good job Line 6'. I'd totally buy one if I didn't already have an interface with HELIX Native.

I was on the fence between this and the Boss GX-100. I decided on this because I found one on Reverb for $375 and it is in mint condition. While I always figured the Pod HD series just needed an IR update, there is definitely something else going on in this unit. The playing 'feel' is outstanding, as are the tones. The best modeller I've ever owned.

All those criticizing this and the Helix,.....a lot of band use them live, Jinjer being one of them, I know I was there about 3 feet from them in a small club in San Diego called Brick by Brick plus Eugene stated that it is his weapon of choice because he doesn't have to carry a huge rig and can have all the tones he needs, he has two, one is used as a backup. Line6 has come a long way since the original bean pod which by the way was used by Dino Cazares on one of the Fear Factory albums and that album has great tone with a freaking original Line6 Pod!!!.

It's not the same as Helix though, despite what people might tell you.... the input stage is different, less headroom (which is noticeable if you have them side by side as I do), if you turn all of the slots on then you're limited to which effects have enough CPU to be able to run, and the CPU within the Pod Go is almost entirely maxed-out so unlike the Helix you'll find that additional firmware updates don't add anything particularly spectacular. It's a good unit, but a Helix-a-like it is not.

I think POD GO HX would have made everything clear. Either way, once you know its HX modelling in a 'POD' for this price, its hard not to want one.

I think it's a cool product with the "just right" amount of features for the price. Too bad the processing does not allow for dual amps but, still enough to get the job done in most cases. When I was learning to play in the late 60s a device like this was inconceivable ... and had it existed, would have cost 50K or more. It's amazing to me what we now seem to take for granted. I use it direct in front of my Fender Deluxe (no fx-loop) for the effects. You can switch off the cab ir's for the "amp out" in the global setting. That is a timesaver. What it needs in is the possibility to also switch of the amp blocks in the global settings. Now you have to disable the amp block in every preset, or make new user presets in the user presets.
@shane0114713 жыл бұрын
Glad I found this comment as I was wanting to use the POD GO just for the effects alone as the pedals I like cost 150-200 each when I can just get this and save some money. I play a AC15 with no fx loop so I was just wondering how this would work just for the effects alone as I do not want to use the ir's at all. I just want a clean set up without all the cables and power supply. All I want to do is assign a different effect pedal to each footswitch for instance a OD to one and a chorus to another and so on and be able to use some of the effects together. Have never used digital FX even once so I know nothing about them. I do not want the sound of my amp to change as I love it and the only thing I want to use this for is a compact pedalboard just for the effects alone and I do not want any amp or cab sims at all..Any input would be appreciated and Thank You..

What I do (if this helps) is set up a good temporary sound with a plugin while I record the guitar parts. Then, I go back during the mixing stage and ‘play around’ with the guitar plugin’s amps, cabs and effects to set them in the mix better. With a plugin, you have the freedom to completely change the guitar sounds on the fly. Recording with something like a Pod, you are more locked into the sound you originally recorded. Of course you can always re-amp I suppose... but, plugins are easier and a lot less time consuming. 🎸🎸🎸

No, I wouldn't; the input stage on the Pod Go isn't as good, and that's noticeable to my ears, and the Pod Go doesn't have all of the effects from the Helix as it simply doesn't have the CPU power to do it. Also, if you turn every slot on, on the Pod Go, you'll find that you can't select some of the nicer reverb/delay effects as there isn't enough CPU power to run them.

How do you use a pod go do you just plug it straight into a cab
@shannonjennings14544 жыл бұрын
It has to be amped so plug it into a combo or head unit. I have one. You're supposed to be able to use it through your PC with recording software, but I don't have any do I can't attest to that.
