How much power have you actually lost? Have you done the math to see how much your clipping losses are? Theoretical max losses are much higher than day to day actual. You need to have both inverters on the same panel type and do a long term test. Please to an actual test and share the data....

Why would you rip out an existing system if the new system isn’t going to be mounted in the same place. Seems like it would be better to just add to what you already have.

Because it makes permitting 5x times harder in my area. It makes things a little more simple in my situation. I never wanted it on the roof in the first place. I did that to get a much quicker approval from planning and zoning. Now, I can take my time and work through the process. I'll leave the roof top system up there until I complete this new one. Then I'll carefully uninstall that one and sell it.

Great job so far Justin, I just finished installing a 6 kw system, still don't understand why (at least in LA) you have to become an installer to be able to buy the micro inverter, since they are so easy to install and put to work

The only source of the hoymiles in my country, stop selling them, i bet dues to low demand as they pull things like that. 😓 Just about when i was about to get 4 panels and a quad micro-inverter. 🤷‍♂️

Awsonme video. I am planning a system just like this. Do you know if this has a zero export feature? With this, I do to need to get an agreement and permits with the electric company .

I am still learning these microinverters but I do not think they have a zero export feature. Yes, You would need to get an agreement and permits with any microinverter system. It is one of the disadvantages to microinverters.

Why would you get 1000s over the 4 panel 2000s? Cost is significantly cheaper with the 2000. I am just starting down solar path and don’t know much. Just seems cheaper to get the bigger ones 😊

You are correct. However, the layout supports dual microinverters not quad since it's a single row of 30 panels on a wall. If it were 15 panels on 2 rows, I would do 7 quads on 28 and 1 dual for the other 2. It really comes down to your design layout. Hope that helps out.

Ok I was curious if I were missing out on something. I had an estimate on my house but felt it was waaay to high. So I’m going to slow build my way to a full system. My plan is micro inverters and the first array will be 12 panels on the garage so I liked the 3 inverter idea

Question?? For the microinverters that can handle multiple panels with one inverter, such as the HMS-2000 (supports 2 panels) or the HM-1500 (supports 3 or more panels). In these cases, does the microinverter shares a single MPPT across the panels it manages, which can lead to current mismatch problems under certain conditions: • Scenario with Multiple Panels on One Microinverter: When multiple panels are connected to a single microinverter with one MPPT, all the connected panels operate at the same current. If one of the panels experiences shading or underperforms (due to dirt, orientation, or temperature differences), the microinverter adjusts the power point for all the connected panels, potentially reducing the output of the unshaded or high-performing panels. • Example of Current Mismatch: Let’s say you have two panels connected to a single Hoymiles HMS-2000 microinverter: o Panel A is unshaded and can produce 400W. o Panel B is partially shaded and can only produce 200W. In this situation, the microinverter will adjust the operating point to match the performance of the weaker (shaded) panel, causing the unshaded panel (Panel A) to operate at a lower power level than it could under optimal conditions. This is the current mismatch issue. I need to know as I get partial shading during the day. Enphase rep tells me Hoymiles has this issue but if not I'd prefer to purchase this solution. Please let me know

I assume this means you can use the microinverters and directly link/configure to the wireliess router/MPU device...avoiding a whole combiner box install and putting another piece of equipment on the wall? (enphase requires the gateway)

I'm doing a 35kW ground mount using Hoymiles. It does seem like the best option right now. I'm SUPER interested in that combiner box.

35kW system is massive. Congrats!! How are you connecting the backfeed breaker on that large of a system? What panels, model of microinverters and racking system are you using? I am stoked to have that combiner box! I personally believe that is going to help a lot of people decide on Hoymiles. It just makes the overall process so much easier. From solar permitting, installation, and even monitoring. I can't wait to get that thing hooked up and share with everyone!

@@JustinsProject I can't backfeed a breaker on that size of system. I have to do a line-side tap into my secondary 200A panel. I have the HMS-2000-4T on order, hopefully shipping this week. My panels are massive Sunpal 700w (SP700M-66H), but the NMOT rating puts them at about 523W per panel, so they should be a good match. For racking, I have an order in with Sinclair Designs for the Sky Rack 2.0, 50 panel array. I have an existing 3kW system on the house, so it will be a massive system, all said and done. I'll be interested in that combiner box as I'll have 5 strings of microinverters that I need combined, which would be perfect. Then I'll run 2/0 awg to the house and into the disconnect, meter and line-side tap. My utility bill this month was $1100, so I can't get this system in fast enough. I've been having a hard time sourcing the 4-in-1 inverters as they seem to be rather popular. I noticed you got the 2-in-1 from NAZ. They told me the 4-in-1's aren't coming in until September and their confidence in that date didn't seem high. I ended up purchasing through Todd at NC Solar. He said he'll have them in this Thursday. Fingers crossed!

Yeah, I will be very close to maxing my backfeed breaker on this installation. If I ever expand, I'll have to tap the line. I'm not comfortable doing that one, so I would have to hire an electrician for that.

Does this micro inverters have an app to track the energy produced for the solar panels connect to it? Enphase and solar powermizer does that job. Heard about Aptos micro inverter. Try that once too. 😊 Let me know how you feel it.

Aptos microinverters are Hoymiles. If you look closely at them, you will see "powered by hoymiles." Yes, you can monitor the solar system with the S Miles app by Hoymiles. I will dive into that a little more in future videos.

I appreciate all of your videos because they’ve answered a lot of question on my journey that I will probably start towards the end of the year. They’ve also got me on the Hoymiles train due to the capabilities of supporting higher output panels and more connections out of one inverter. I was forced into a semi DIY system because there is no way in hell I’m getting on my roof and mounting anything. I’m about to save like 40K because most will be DIY except mounting the panels on the roof. Glad to know that Aptos is Hoymiles. Now I can scratch that off my list for research. Happy to hear about your relationship you have with Hoymiles. That’s going to help us out a lot. Can’t wait for the next video.

I walked into signature solar godown here in Texas and saw the text powered by Hoymiles. 😂 I am putting 16KW panels on fence with Aptos 440w bifacial and will be using hoymiles hms 4t 2000w with the combiner box Pls Share the information where you got them and a promo code for referral 😂 Have to design the paperwork for permit in Lyra solar.
