Big problem in the EU is gas is so much more expensive. By necessity they need smaller displacement and their mid size trucks still use diesels because NOTHING can get the MPG's on a heavy body on frame like a diesel (plus diesel fuel is less expensive because they aren't required to refine all the sulfur out of it like in the US) And EV is an epic failure for trucks as the range drops to nothing once you actually carry or tow anything. But the EU has the same problem as the states in that the masses can't afford or want to be forced to buy EV. Expect the same rollbacks on EV mandates in the EU to follow the US.

Hot take: - CAFE standards have warped the auto market in a bad way - Tariffs are going to cause costs increases on just about everything if they go through. We don't make a lot of things in the USA any more, probably never will due to expensive labor, and things like electronics parts almost exclusively come from Taiwan / China. It can take a decade or more to move manufacturing to a different country and scale production. - There's no actual market demand for manual windows, doors, etc. and thanks to modern electronics, they hardly cost anything. Average new car buyer in 2022 was 51+, overweight/obese and getting into a small car actually hurts - A large unspoken reason crossover SUVs are popular today. - It costs more to make things manual than automatic today due to economies of scale changing. It's not 1983 any more. Manual transmissions get worse gas mileage than an automatic now. Getting to play 3 foot shuffle and play with a stick so you feel control over at least one thing in your life isn't a good excuse. - Lane assistance, backup camera, etc. aren't luxuries but actually increase driver safety. Backup camera was mandated in 2014. - Carmakers are using screens to save on the price of having to make buttons, for better or worse. You can get a 65" TV for 300; the little 8" screen in your car doesn't cost thousands for the manufacturer, regardless of what they claim. - Streamlining regulations and red tape like with the EPA probably is a good thing, abolishing them not really- Did we forget California in the 70s and what Lake Erie used to be like?

Good now bring back Pure gasoline, i was able to get hold of non ethanol 90 octane and my 2011 mustang v6 went from 25-28 mpg highway on my usual route from michigan to toronto with 10% ethanol fuel, with non ethanol Rec 90 aka REAL GASOLINE i was able to get 30-32mpg on the highway and went from 18-22 city/rural roads to now averaging 24-26 mpg in the city/ rural roads...car also has more low end torque with it

I hope Trump does roll back the worst if these regulations, and used a tarrif to bring manufacturing and other jobs back to the USA. I would like for the ice automobile to stick around for those of us that want it.
@stephkent27362 ай бұрын
You realize that will triple the manufacturing cost of cars, and require the consumer to pay for billions of dollars of factories and similar infrastructure? It also means specialty cars that make no sense to build in the US will cost a lot more (Toyota Crown and Land Cruiser, the entire Buick portfolio, etc). Pretty much kiss anything goodbye that doesn't sell 25K+ units in the US or is Chinese assembled.

My predictions are that the election makes not a single difference in Dodge having V8s. There isn’t going to be a car buying boom because wages are STILL stagnant. Deflation isn’t going to occur at all. If Dodge wanted to keep making a V8, they would have kept making the V8.

Yeah, but I feel like with all the lies presented by CDJR, the gotcha last call, the demon 170 that has a grenade for a engine and just the run of the mill Chrysler electrical issues and a extremely high mark Ups for your (price gouging) troubles. The damage has been done and it will take a little more than a revamp of a hemi car to in ring this bell. Screw me once shame on you, screw me twice, three, four, five times! Shame on me! The only reason I drive a ram is for the Cummins. If they dropped that engine in a Chevy or ford I’d swap brands. Yeah I’ll keep fixing the challenger, but that’s because it’s paid for.

Stellantis should send all EV production to California and put the new charger with 6.4 hemi with catless headers to the rest of the states. This would make Gavin Newsom happy and the rest of the Mopar nation rejoice. I'm sick of hearing how California is going to dictate what America does in relation to pollution.

The Chevron ruling makes the EPA weaker and CARB stronger. SCOTUS recently backed California on it's rights to regulate products sold in California but made outside California. (National Pork Producers v. Ross)

Everyone talks about bringing plants back to U.S. which would be incredible and we absolutely need to. But we also need to bring back engineering and design that was outsourced. How can that be accomplished thru tariffs?

Too much money invested in common platforms for all their cars. You get a Peugeot and you get a Peugeot and you get a Peugeot!
@davidrosing57882 ай бұрын
Trouble is Stellantis fired all the engineers and procurement staff used to design and build these cars and is in the process of firing all the assembly line workers who build them. Meaning Stellantis doesn't know how to build a car any more, possibly meaning that what ever V8 comes out in the future won't be reliable enough for dependable transportation. I still wouldn't buy one. Did you ever get that Demon 170 interior panel fixed? Just say'in

EV''s are politics writ large. Bad politics. As for cars, make 'em louder, make 'em faster, make 'em affordable. Dodge, as we loved it, is probably gone forever. Other companies will need to step up. Ford already has.
