I unsubbed and moved over to King Kogi long ago, but today, this popped up in my recommended videos. I didn’t realize how important this closure would feel to me after watching EYK for so long. Martina was always the heart and soul and talent of this channel, and it hurts moving away - but I am so proud watching her flourish on KK. So long, EYK! Its old content will always be a happy memory.

Never commented before but wanted to say, an old video you made was about ‘building a ladder’. You said ‘if I’m going to die anyway, I might as well do the things I like before I go’ (paraphrased as it was a very long time ago). This literally saved my life. I still take time each year to list films coming out, games launching and places I want to visit that year as ‘things to do before….’ Anyway, I’m still here cause of that. Thank you x

The only escape I got was watching travel videos, which was how I found you. Y'all actually got me into Kpop, which was an amazing distracton for me at the time. I wanna feel for Martina but the way she quietly paints Simon as an awful person for wanting to post here makes me extremely uncomfortable. Couples share businesses all the time and they both could've used the name to benefit them both, but Martina doesn't want to compromise at all. Imagine if all brands did this when relationships fell apart my lord... It's childish and immature tbh.

@@90210bryan i cant be the only one who thinks Martina was being v careful with her words and not "quietly painting Simon as an awful person" as you have claimed. What i saw was her explaining objectively how and why her time in contributing to EYK channel has come to an end. In doing so it mightve highlighted some unexpected actions from Simon, which was only fair because it contributed to her reason of leaving. I say its fair because she never did it in a way to stir things up, only for things to settle down. Both of them have gone thru so much individually these past few years, and aft thinking abt it all, seeing how u called Martina's actions "childish and immature" only explains how little u know about EYK content and the importance it serves to the EYK community. Sir, u cant just expect NIKE or Adidas to go thru a major mess and then not be uncomfortable/questioning when it starts to showcase n promote Chinese medicine. Like whaaat?

@@90210bryan I think if you check out King Kogi you can see who the driving force behind the creativity EYK Studios is/was tbh. Like the exciting fun things Martina is doing over there VS... book club. I don't think it's on brand and tbh Simon uploading stuff getting 10k views is an indication what the audience wants vs King Kogi thriving. Wanting an archive of a past life honestly would be the best bet, but as what's happening here. Simon now owns it(?) -since Martina is done here - and is uploading nonrelated stuff. I'd be upset too if it felt like my 10+ life long baby is just... not being 'ruined' but not on par of how you want it to be left. He can go run his book club on his own page. Martinas stuff is still related to EYK so I don't see anything wrong with her doing shorts ect. Just my two cents but IMO I don't think it's fair this is the result of EYK studios is that unrelated content is being uploaded by one party and not really respecting that it's over and could become a perfect archive/time capsule.

@@prolilr I believe they both had an agreement to try out providing content separately for a time to help ease the community into the new phase and also build up support for both to eventually move on to other channels, platforms, overall projects etc. At a certain point, I believed that everything was being set up to be archived to maintain the EYK brand and be a time-capsule for many of the amazing memories for the community. Simon's continued posting on content that isn't very much in-line with the brand and his affect is what has greatly disturbed and alienated viewers and other community members while Martina's content has stayed true to the overall brand ethos.

You're 100% right, Martina. Your initial vision for the future of this channel, and the progress of your own, is how it should have been. That's the classy/dignified way for EYK to continue to exist as an archive of videos that people can come back to enjoy again and again. That's the way it SHOULD be, but as you said, it's not possible to control what others do. "It's the ones who can't let go - of fear or anger, lust or greed, vanity or pride or power - who are most at risk of becoming corrupted...." You've chosen to remain uncorrupted, Martina. @@marishkaspirit Nah, you can get over yourself, instead. I appreciate your desire to defend someone you like, but Martina's content and location required no change or disturbance to their audience. The majority of people, including myself, had no idea there was conflict between them, because Martina never brought it to KZbin, their primary platform. Simon got butt hurt over Martina's social media and brought it to KZbin, causing a massive divide, and disrupted the location and content of their channel. Objectively speaking, he is the problem. He's the one who should have left. In fact, he did, agreeing to keep EYK as an archive, but was too greedy to leave the massive following generated by their FOOD content even though he wants to talk generic philosophy and book club content. Without any influence from personality or intention and just based on objective action, he has been selfish, greedy, and petty. None of that is Martina's fault.

@@SS_DT Martina never bought up their problems to the public? You either are delusional or yiou aren ot informez of the entire story. Mărit na wrote on social media about their problems is a very ugly way în a long meessage. She later appologized, realizing she should have never bought intimate things and speak this way, and that it was an impulsive moment. She at least aknowledged it, but Simon didn't spoke about it with the public, his reaction was never to Hurt her back. If anything, he never said something bad back, and Martina realized herself her mistake, at least that. If you start accusing someone and taking sides, better have the full story. And now you can really get over yourself. You write about him and you don't even really know what happened between them. Please be a decent human been and inform yourself before throwing Stones. Incredible, your level of ignorante. And once again, why you try to find a villan here? I am not defending anyone, if we Point out things let's be just and honest: they both made mistakes, they both got very Hurt, they both tried their best to become better. Like i said, i am baffled of the level of ignorance and unjust bias here. I get you are Martina's fan and now you try to blame someone for this and found an easy Target on Simon. I was a fan of both of them and i can't stand to see when people aren bot even well informed and they get their pick forks redy to stab, like you. I am not defending Simon and denigrating Martina, I understood both of them had a hand în their de orice, they both tried and it didn't work, and now even if we didn't liek to admit it, they are both better people separate. Simon matrued and found his own voice, he lost his True self în The relationship and it became heavy for him în time. Martina wanted also to pursue other goals, it was her dream to live in Japan, Simon just followed her there as her partener. But when you lose your identity and you don't feel comfortable anymore în that country/place, little by little is eating at you. They both realized they were not compatibile, and it sometimes takes a long time to open your eyes and is hard to accept it because you don't want to lose what oyu built. Simon involved himself în this, he lost alot of weight and was în pain, Martina was also în alot of pain, she wasn't putting make up she looked liek she cried. Their pain is not for you to choose sides, this is not a boxing match. This is a relationship fallingb apart, and sometimes none are at fault, or both of them are. Is your vision really that narrow, do you see things în Black and white only? His new videos have nothing to do with this “brand” and it’s super awkward to see what the channel is morphing into. I don’t understand why he is doing that. All the bookclub stuff can be done on a new channel in a new space for people interested in that stuff. Why did he just take over and change the concept of EYK? He shouldn’t have been able to do that after you guy’s split. This is not HIS house it was YOU GUY’S HOUSE TOGETHER. He’s redecorating with no regard for anyone else. It’s really upsetting. I just unsubscribed and am really f-kin emotional about it. Why did it have to end like this with Martina leaving her home that she helped build for years? We know nothing about their circumstances and it's not our place to tell what they can or can't do and more so we have no right to judge what's fair and what's not when it comes to THEIR PERSONAL life. But if you’re making the choice to no longer post here, then I’ll permanently unsubscribe. I have been following, since the start of the channel, and I was here almost entirely for YOU, especially when I found out our disabilities aligned. You’ve helped me through so much, and I know for a fact that without you, specifically YOU, Martina, I would be dead. There’s no question of that. I followed KingKogi as soon as you put that up, and I’m happily on the Patreon. You’re a light and joy in this world, and I’ll always follow your journey, and support you. 💗 Goodbye, EYK. @@Paul-sl9zm it was 2009, so the Internet wasn't as robust. Facebook had barely taken off, there weren't even many smart phones in the US. Google was a thing, but the expat groups and stuff online to help were scarce af. Even EYK hadn't really taken off yet, Simon and Martina were just English teachers like we were. They shared their experience online though, which was pretty novel at the time. It was the era of blogs, youtube was a lot of home movies, DIY help, and obscure comedy. We felt so lucky to find their channel, it helped us get to Costco too lol They just did a quick video on what the different buttons meant and helped me actually start the washing machine for the first time. It felt very big 😂 They were one of so few resources at the time, every video they did back then was wildly helpful to us in a second tier city with many fewer resources than Seoul.

I was going through a very hard time when I happened upon EYK. I had been homeless and had just moved into an apartment and had a lot of trauma to sort through. Things were really rough and the future was frightening. EYK was the thing that helped me feel less alone, and I knew I could look forward to coming back to KZbin after a hard day of uncertainty and find you here making me laugh and teaching me about a world so far outside my own. It gave me hope that there were infinite paths outside the isolation I was experiencing, and that I could maybe actually possibly be okay someday. I know this sounds silly but the way you were so quirky and weird and had carved your own life for yourselves where you could shine, that meant so much to me as a weirdo myself haha. I didn’t feel like any of the standard life paths seemed to fit me, nor did I really desire them. So seeing EYK being unapologetically YOU was what I needed so desperately. If it was okay for you to be yourselves, then I could be me. I’m rambling but thanks for what you did, and I want to stress that ultimately the biggest thing you did and the biggest service you offered (and continue to offer) the world is being yourselves. I guess that’s what I’m struggling to communicate here. I look forward to seeing where your journey takes you from here. Thanks for sharing with us.

Hey people that want a clousure about this channel!! Simon has censored the comments on his last video, and he said that he won't stop uploading that kind of videos because he doesn't care about our opinion, but I think that the only other opinion about this channel that matter is Martina's, and she has said that she wanted this channel to be inactive. So, I invite people that isn't happy with that content to unsubscribe, and don't watch his videos. Sooner or later this channel will die in peace as the majority of we want. We have that power before we remember this channel as something that we hate. This channel represents happiness but also sadness that one day what you think is eternal would die, because you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain, and that's the way we are viewing this channel right now. So, people, don't engage in his content, I won't do it, and we would get the closure that we need.
